Hey, today I made a podcast for Asian Horror Movies.com about my general thoughts on Asian horror. Listening back to it, I realise I forgot to mention various things I intended to, and didn't elaborate enough on certain films, so if I make another one I'll try and get that in there. I also never realised I had such a laid back voice lol.

Re: I've made a podcast
Always nice to get a voice for familiar faces (ehm...
)
You spoke about Koji Shiraishi but didn't mention Grotesque...??? Good reminder that I should watch Noroi, though.
I'm also not a fan og Takashi Shimizu. The first Ju-on was passable, partly thanks to Chiaki. The first two theatricals were terrible. I've got Marebito on order. The cinematography seems nice. But tt's pretty much gonna be my last try with Shimizu if it doesn't impress me.
There's a pretty intreresting era of graphic Japanese horror right between the post Ringu ghost horror and classic, ehm, ghost horror. I'm talking about films like Masaru Konuma's Woman in the Box II (1988) (really atmospheric and even beautiful Psycho on ski resort pink horror) and Toshiharu Ikeda's flasher classic Evil Dead Trap (owing a lot to Dario Argento, Lucio Fulci, and Sam Raimi). Today I watched Yoshihiro Nishimura's Anatomia Extinction, which, without better knowledge, you swear to be the lost horror movie by Shinya Tsukamoto. And I'm talking about the Tsukamoto that made Tetsuo and Tokyo Fist, and not the guy who directed Gemini and Nightmare Detective (ok, I haven't seen the latter, but anyway). Superb film.
Oh, and Guinea Pigs of course. Never dared to watch those.

Yeah I haven't watched Grotesque because I'm into ghostly horror rather than torture porn haha. I think you'll enjoy Noroi, it really is very good indeed!
