For fucks sake, spoiler tags. Do I have to add them ever time myself.

I might be mistaken about Romero saying he liked the ending, and Gas commenting he couldn't see that coming, and Romero replying it's nice to have have a film with surprises, but I really thought Romero said he liked the ending, and Gas commented he couldn't see it coming, and Romero replying it's nice to have have a film with surprises.

And no, of course I don't know the ending yet. I don't even know what the film is about execpt someone getting buried. I've been intentionally avoiding reading anything about the content so that I could go in open minded without having any clue what the film is about. But now you guys are talking about all the surprises in the film. Now I won't be so suprised by the film's content because I've already been told it's a film with surprises in it. A suprise is not much of a surprise when some smartass tells you that hey, there's gonna be a surprise.

The only 'smartass' here is you; Romero and I did no such thing and you're just being anal, that's why I'm pissed off. If I wanted to spoil it, then why didn't I mention the ending in my brief summary of the film? Why don't you go and spoiler-tag the whole forum.

I didn't mean to suggest you intended to spoil it for others. It just seems you're so ignorant you don't realize many people don't want to read that kind of stuff before seeing the film. A lot of my friends would call me a fucking asshole if I told them that kind of things about movies they're looking forward to seeing.

I didn't realise I was spoiling anything by saying 'I didn't see that coming'. If anything, you'll now be more curious about the film because you have no idea what Romero and I were referring to.

heh, let's say so.

At least now I know the film isn't gonna be just 90 minutes of someone laying in a coffin.. or maybe it will :D

Juno 4/5

Great film about the coolest chick on earth getting pregnant. Fantastic performance by Ellen Page, why skyrockets into my top 3 list of favourite actresses I'd find do-able...

It's crazy that she didn't win an oscar for this performance. I should look up who DID win that year, but I'm lazy, so I'm just gonna assume the bitch that DID win didn't deserve it.

Last 10 minutes orso are probably the weakest of the movie, but that's mostly because everything that came before it was so special, that you kinda hoped it would also be a very memorable ending. Apart from the aliens gangraping a blind 24 year old parrot, it really isn't.

Must-watch movie. Perfect casting. 4/5

Saw Juno a couple of weeks back... wasn't bad... bit lightweight though given all the critical praise. I thought the central character was a smart arse cow at first, but I warmed to her a bit as she (and her plight) became more real. I never thought Juno was 'cool' in anything but an artificial way and the movie's INSISTENCE that she was (complete with 'cool' lingo) threatened to derail it. The opportunity for satire was missed since the script never really confronts Juno and just goes along with everything she says or does despite her obvious emotional immaturity. Michael Cera's character was a drip who didn't seem to have an opinion on anything... yet we're supposed to like him? Also one obvious question no one ever asks: Why does such a sharp, worldly girl have sex without the use of protection? D'uh. Even chavs know about raincoats and morning after pills.

I agree about the 'lingo', but Ellen Page pulled it off to make it seem all authentic and all that.

I DID think she was cool, but I've always liked chicks like this who are just down to earth and 'cool'. Plus she's a short haired brunette.

She reminded me a bit about MY biggest crush before I met my current girlfriend, who looked quite like Juno, also the little bit of same style of clothes, same short brunette hair, etc etc.

I liked the Cera character btw. He's justa 16/17 year old kid who is also kinda clueless about it all, plus Juno is obviously the stronger character in that relationship and her own boss, so him kinda taking a backseat to it all made very much sense to me.

Ow, and about the question why she would have sex without protection? I don't know. Guess they were horney. Guess they didn't think it through. Guess she didn't think he'd score a 1-timer. Doesn't really matter to me TBH.

She gave a good performance granted.

I like long-haired brunettes myself. But Juno wasn't cool, she was 'cool'. The script tried too hard.

Obviously I don't have that particular experience...

You're 16, a girl tells you she's pregnant, so what do you do? Nothing apparently... except act like a dweeb. She says she's giving the baby up for adoption and... no response. I've seen more emotion from someone dropping a cheeseburger in the street. What is it exactly that Juno liked about this guy? Clearly they had nothing in common. I didn't find the end (when they get back together) romantic, she's only with him because no one else would put up with her shit and allow her to dominate their relationship.
Ow, and about the question why she would have sex without protection? I don't know. Guess they were horney. Guess they didn't think it through. Guess she didn't think he'd score a 1-timer. Doesn't really matter to me TBH.
It mattered to me because the entire film rests on it.

Horny? Nah, she obviously planned the seduction scenario and EVERYONE with at least half a brain (which should include the 'smart' Juno) knows you can get pregnant with one shot. Like a woman on the verge of labour your answer doesn't hold water.

I loved Juno too, yes the dialogue is unrealistic but it really didn't bother me.

Cera's was interesting. He was at times completely naive but also got the impression he knew more than he was letting on. Ellen Page was obviously fantastic and super cute too.

There's supposed to be a sexual alien attack in Alien vs Ninja. I'm very much looking forward to seeing it.

Will Ferrell is about as funny as chickenpox, but I've heard that Mark Wahlberg is good and gets most of the laughs.

Harry Brown (UK, 2010) – 3.5/5
Michael Caine’s ultra-hard vigilante film is on the verge of unintentional funniness – a 76 year old avenger isn’t your typical action hero – but any laughs get soon caught in the throat. Comparisons to Gran Torino are far off. While Eastwood’s film was a self-ironic and ultimately optimistic coming of age story, Harry Brown is a nightmare exercise in nihilism. The world is a cunt. Better buy a gun and take a few punks with you, because tomorrow you’ll be dead anyway.

Kick-Ass (USA, 2010) – 4/5
There’s three ways to make over-the-top, born to be “cult” films. The majority today go for the pathetic, “look we’re doing cult and we know it” –fare that assume viewers to have as little brains as the filmmakers (duh). The second way is to take a serious approach and succeed by accident. Thirdly, there’s the Tarantino league of directors who know how the recipe for purposely cool movies: a pseudo-serious approach that relies on the audience being able to pick up the irony of it. Matthew Vaughn’s comic book film is on the right track, but slips on a few occasions. What Vaughn gets right is delivering a seemingly straight faced and lovingly crafted movie from ridiculous ingredients. It’s a comedy also, but Vaughn allows it the fore-mentioned semi-serious backbone that is vital for delivering a two hour movie instead of a two hour joke. Well, for most part at least. A couple of terribly flashy song selections on the soundtrack show that Vaughn still doesn’t fully trust his own work. In all honesty though, with some Einsteins offended by the film’s “politically incorrect nature”, or even finding pinches of paedophilia in the film (that describes the reviewer better than it does the film), Vaughn may indeed need a few concrete proofs of the film’s true nature.

Its the first Ferrell film I can say I have ever liked, all his films I have seen are total and utter shit, he ruins films. So if I liked this, I guess something worked for me.
