Yes. You've got a LCD TV. Which always have multiple inputs and multiple outputs. Basically HDMI/Scart/Phonos all output audio from the DVD Player/BD Player, into whatever connection you're using on the TV (HDMI/Scart/Phonos). That gets Stereo sound into the TV from both sources. To get it out again, the TV will have a "TV Out" (it may not be called that exactly) pair of red/white phonos (it will be red/white phonos though). This outputs whatever happens to be on the TV screen (regular TV/BD/BD/Whatever). This is stereo only (as phonos are only stereo) but that's all you want anyway.
Plug that into the stereo Aux input on the Hifi and Bob's your uncle. Whether the Hifi connection is the really old 5 pin din, red/white phonos or 3.5mm plug, it doesn't matter. Once it's in the Hifi, you can obviously use the headphone connection, as you are anyway. It does mean running a cable from the TV to Hifi but then you're running a cable from the BD Player to Hifi anyway. So it's no different. I suspect you're taking a cable direct from the rear of the BD Player and into the Hifi. Don't bother doing this. You'll also be using HDMI from the BD Player to the TV. HDMI is carrying audio to the TV too.
I have a pair of Red/White phonos going out of the TV into my Amp. If I leave my Amp on the TV option, I get stereo audio from any source. It being my BD Player, Freeview+ or old DVD Player. The TV outputs whatever channel it is on. Obviously for the BD Player I switch my Amp over to the 5.1 mode most of the time but you get the idea.
Come to think of it, even my ancient CRT TV had a pair of red/white phonos, that were a general "audio out" for whatever channel it is on.
