Films you were surprised never spawned a sequel??

Post by saltysam »

I'll start with Beetlejuice  reasonable box office hit, cool concept, plenty more mileage left and 20 years later...nothing bar a crappy cartoon series.i'd imagine a remake would be more likely than a follow-up now. And the obvious one...Unbreakable.would love to see a follow up to this.

Star Wars: A New Hope. A rare 70's sci-fi movie with an unknown cast and some puppets and special effects. It's weird that they never built on that. Could have been pretty damn good.

Enter the Dragon: a martial arts flick from the 70's, where a chinese guy beats the crap out of other chinese guys on an island. Really, there is so much potential for sequels, like a movie where a chinese guy beats up chinese guys on a mountain, or a movie where a chinese guy beats up chinese guys in a hospital, or a movie where a chinese guy beats up chinese guys in a forest, etc etc.

They could even make a movie where a chinese guy beats up black guys in a swedish Ikea! The possibilities are limitless!

Bambi. Why didn't that ever get a sequel!? His mom got MURDERED! There should be a sequel where he goes out for vengeance!

Hinted? no.

Said it was coming, yes :D a trilogy of films he had written in his mind, but after the first film underperformed (even if it was fucking superb) he ditched that idea, and now has stolen the ideas from parts 2 and 3 of Unbreakable and inserted them into his new trilogy of evil shit.

So instead of Unbreakable 2, we get Airbender

It always surprised me that a follow up to The Long Good Friday never happened.

Lol... where could they have gone with that?

Bob Hoskins is being driven to his death! Unless you think he could have elbowed the IRA man in the chops, jumped out the car, run back for a shotgun and started blasting away.... then started up a one-man campaign to wipe out the IRA. The Long Good Saturday perhaps?

The Character was so memorable a prequel certainly could've been attempted...a sequel was rumoured at one point

Planet of the Apes remake. Not especially a great film but it has sequel all over it. I'd have gone to see it.

As it's out next year, how can I have seen it? Sadly I am not equipped with an H. George Wells Time Machine.

Besides, like you said, that's a sequel. Yes I had heard of it and CGI monkey's fill me with dread. The remake was poor except in how the people moved liked apes. That was excellent and now they've undone this work. The original and Conquest of the planet of the apes (Part 4) are excellent but the rest are a bit ropey. I like them all though, the originals that is.
