I usually just get my syrup water hooked up to an I.V. That's why I have to sit in an aisle seat.

Naah, it's one of the best and most satisfying endings ever. Couldn't possibly have been better. The whole film is beyond awesome.

I knew you'd say that. For me it's rubbish. The film deserved a big fight but we got that! It's hardly awesome too. It's beyond dumb in places (The Bride bringing unburrying herself, WTF!). I like Vol. 1 though.

There was supposed to be a big fight, but that worthless wanker David Carradine talked Tarentino out of it.

I did like pt. 2 better than pt. 1 though, although personally I don't care all that much about the movie, and feel it could have been much better with some different casting.

I never knew that. It goes against the whole ethos of martial arts movies. There's always a big fight and this deserved one. We waited 3 hours for that!

Kill Bill Vol.1 was self-indulgent and sadistic
Kill Bill Vol.2 was self-indulgent and sadistic AND boring.

Sadistic, how?

Vol. 2 was definitely boring. Vol. 1 is good fun though and yes both are self indulgent but I didn't mind.

The Expendables 2.5/5

While this was never going to live up to the hype it was still disappointing to find that despite the awesome cast list that's been assembled we've been left with a fairly average by the numbers actioner. The action scenes are fairly predictable, lots of explosions and gunfire,rapid-fire editing that makes the fights sometimes hard to follow, the evil baddies (Roberts,Steve Austin etc) are very much by the numbers..the plus points are of course the cast, Stallone,Statham & Lundgren are great pity Dolph disappears halfway through until the final scene nice to see Gary Daniels in there as well. With a cast list this large though and the film only around 100 minutes it's obvious some aren't going to get enough screen time.To sum up-i'm disappointed with this one but i probably expected too much.

The correct rating for Rambo is 4.5/5, of course.

I would like to watch the damn film (Expendables) myself but idiot JP distributor hasn't even decided a release date for it. Gotta settle for home video entertainment for now. Or maybe go see the new Universal Soldier in cinema.

Why because I have an issue with being invited to laugh at sadism?
That's a rather stereotypical viewpoint.
Only 'old dears' care about morality and all youths are bloodthirsty cretins?
I happen to think that Tarantino has an unpleasently immature obsession with sadistic violence.
It started early in his career before finally getting out of control with Kill Bill and Inglourious Basterds.
Both volumes are among the best movies ever made.
Absolute rubbish.

How is Kill Bill sadistic Mark?

Agreed Pulp Fiction and Reservoir Dogs are at times but it's never bothered me. I saw Cobra the other night and that shocked me more. Mostly because I wasn't expecting it though. There was no need for violence like that. It's a pretty poor film too. Stallone looks the part but it's very "by the numbers" and isn't a lot of fun.

I much preferred Out for Justice, which I also saw recently. That's a good Steven Seagal movie. Raw Deal's pretty good too. How come that ones been forgotten but Commando is so rated? They're both as good/bad and dumb/stupid as each other.

WTF! You're so obsessed with cult films, it seems to me you go in with blinkered vision.

HungFist go and see Universal Soldier Regeneration its fucking superb! one of the best of the year by a mile, but Mark will say its nasty and sadistic  so no bad thing then. I wish I could see it in a cinema, instead of straight to Blu Ray :(

How exactly is Kill Bill "Cult"

and yes Kill Bill Vol 1 is amazing. Not sadistic at all in any way for me, fun and entertaining. Well apart from the sleeping rape stuff, urrgghh!

Seconded.

If you knew more about cult films, you would know I bash half of the celebrated classics with 1/5 rating. And I hate most of these self-aware modern "cult films". Tarantino is an exeption. He just happens to understand cinema and his films are perfection. For some reason, though, I always have low expectations for his new films... I guess it's because every time he makes a masterpiece and then his next project is of completely different genre than the previous film (and even then the film usually turns out to be completely different than you expected)...

I don't have the film so can't offer examples... but it's the glee with which Tarantino uses violence in his films that bothers me. There's little dramatic purpose (save Reservoir Dogs). It's often there for its own sake. Look how much violence and cruelty I can cram into every scene.

Now that I think about it... I seem to recall the French woman getting her arms cut off as being sadistic. She wasn't even one of the assassins. But we're supposed to cheer the heroine for doing this. Makes me uncomfortable.

Then there's Basterds which delights in pain and graphic sadism. A Nazi being battered to death and scalped - isn't that hilarious? No, it's just a bit sickening. But I guess that's just me.

Cult maybe not but cultesque for sure.

Kill Bill is far from perfection. It's over 4Hrs long! So much if it is deleted scenes. 2-2.5Hrs and it would've been a lot stronger. Tarantino was given free reign to get his rocks off.

Interesting point. I'd forgotten about that. This is an homage though and sadistic violence has happened in these sorts of genre films.
