Legendary Kung Fu Trio to Reunite after 18 Years

The famous martial-arts trio of Jackie Chan, Sammo Hung Kam-bo and Biao Yuen will reunite in a new movie as early as this month, Jackie Chan said yesterday.

``I did write the script for the new film myself, but it is likely to be directed by someone else,’’ said Chan without unveiling the title of the new movie, during an interview with Yonhap News Agency. ``It’s going to be a quite unique comedy film, which nobody has ever seen before.’’

The world famous action star added that the new film is about a big comedy surrounding a baby in Hong Kong and said he is considering casting a Korean actor.

In the 1980s, the three action heroes starred in several kung fu comedy hits produced by Hong Kong’s Golden Harvest, including ``Project A’’ (1983), ``Wheels on Meals’’ (1984) and ``Dragon Forever’’ (1987).

Jackie Chan said Yuen Biao would be in Project BB (aka. Project Baby or Baby Plan) he wrote. This would the first movie for the legendary trio in almost two decades. It will tell three crooks steal a baby in order to complete a deal with a gang, but none of them knows how to take care of their little hostage who, after gives them some major headache at their residence, somehow "persuades" them to give up doing bad things. Chan said, “it’s going to be a quite unique comedy film, which nobody has ever seen before.” In an earlier report, Eric Tsang was mentioned as a cast member. It is unknown whether Tsang is still in the project or not.

Now I remember back in June in a french interview, Jackie said he was writing a very funny script in which he was a good bad guy.
"I kidnap someone, but I don't know what to do with it. It's completely comedy."
"I'll call it Project B..." and that's where his manager Willie Chan signaled him not to say anything more.

If Project BB had been shot in 85 I'd agree with you.
But 2006's a little late for a cash-in IMO.

Hey Tom, there is this French baby film, which I really enjoyed to be honest. I think it was called 'Mala leche' or so. That was awesome.

Mala leche is the spanish title, LD.

It's Mauvais Esprit (Mean Spirit) and I agree it's a great little film.
(If you can manage to switch off your brain prior to watching it).

That was the French movie that was remade as 3 Men and a Baby right?

I don't care if it's a remake...

BLACK CAT was a better remake of NIKITA than the THE ASSASSIN

Besides, knowing how HK film making goes - this could be something entirely different by the time it hits the theatres

I just saw DRAGONS FOREVER for the first time a couple of weeks ago, and if these guys can recapture the same chemistry they had when they last worked together this could be great...

Totally agree, Dragons Forever is in my mind their most entertaining movie together, as it has nice action combined with a nice little story and good comedy. I just hope they won't pretend they're still under 30 or something, but will just act their age and build the comedy from that. And that certainly doesnt mean they should act serious or something, as there are lots of 40+ people who kid around and brag and are still kids at heart...

It will be interesting to see how Yuen Biao will be doing. Sammo is supposedly still in great shape, Jackie I've already pretty much given up, but Yuen Biao I have no clue as how fit he is, apart from that he had gained a little bit of weight...

I would have prefered a Drunken Master 3 though.

Well, from the reviews of Sha Po lang or whatever it's called, Sammo can still do great fight-scenes. Jackie, I have my doubts. I really hope Yuen Biao or sammo will direct this new movie, especially the action bits, as I prefer them over jackie, when it comes to actual fight-choreography...

btw, how fucking cool would it be to have a martial arts flick with Yuen Biao teaching Tony Ong-Bak monkey-style or whatever...

LOL, that would be awesome. My friend has seen 'Tom Yum Goong' in Thailand and she told me Jackie Chan had a cameo appearance in it. It's supposed to take place at the airport where Tony Jaa runs into Jackie's suitcases.
Guess that's the part where I must admit that I haven't read your loooong review of the movie (because I like to watch a movie knowing as little as possible).

I believe Jackie is in awesome shape. In 'New Police Story' his fights with Andy On rock.

I guess I should check NPS out one of these days, although obviously not the western version

I'm not sure if it was Jackie in Ong-Bak, or a look-a-like with a big nose... Everybody in the cinema was liek 'huh!?!? is it.... no.... or IS it...!?' and then after they stared at eachother for a while, andparted ways, we were all still unsure.
If it WAS Jackie, he looked pretty bad.

And WTF do you mean you havent read my loooong review!?!? I spent 4 days on that review! And I wrote it especiallyfor you! How rude!

I can assure u that the one in TYG was a double and not the real jackie.

And the fights that jackie did in the myth, are looking very good....
