In fairness to Mann, he has always been a fan of low-lighting; long before he adopted digital.

I hated him beyond words, people calling a mass murderering violent piece of scum a "Hero" made me want to puke.

Historians believe Dillinger only killed one person during the period depicted in the film, not sure why Mann made the Dillinger gang appear more lethal than they actually were.

Digital Cameras tend to be much smaller, allowing the film crew to get much closer to the action.

There are film cameras that could have been used to produce a similar sort of intimate action seen in the Public Enemies shootout, Arricam Lite for instance or maybe the Moviecam Compact.

It's more dramatic but given this is Mann, it is very odd then.

Avatar number 1 ahhh it is winning many hearts it seems, even the ladies I am finding love it

I have seen it 3 times so far, for me it is not in my top films of the year mind you, but it is a good cinema experience that's for sure. So I may as well see it a few more times in 3D, becuase I know I will not be able to ever see it like that again for countless years.

4 of their 6 writers named Love Exposure as the best Japanese films of the year. But it's actually a 2008 film. That's why it doesn't appear on my 2009 list. It does appear on my "best movies of the decade" list, though. Number 2, if I recall correctly.

What do you think of the current state of the industry? I would say a there are a hefty amount of really good films coming out, just it seems like all the others are getting increasingly poor, so bad in fact that nearly all new films aren't even worth trying
