Re: Gladiator Re-release and Robin Hood (2010) Release News
Different distributor, but if I'm remembering correctly when Warner Home Video cocked up the US Superman Boxset they sent replacements out to UK customers as well. Can't hurt to send Paramount an E-mail and see what they say.bradavon wrote:EDIT: I've just checked and I cannot do it anyway, I've got the USA disc. So obviously cannot send it back to Universal UK and I doubt Paramount America would let me send it to them.

Re: Gladiator Re-release and Robin Hood (2010) Release News
I can't find it in on Amazon now (this forthcoming release) but strangely there's a BD double pack with Gladiator (persumably the old BD) and Robin Hood. If its the new one in that pack, I'm not buying that just to get 1 film I want.

The cover art says it's the old one. Have you seen Robin Hood? It's good. Worth a rental for sure.

UK Gladiator exchanged programme announced:
http://hcc.techradar.com/playback/blu-r ... m-05-08-10
I wish they'd offered to replace the whole package. Just Disc 1 interests me not. These are packages and I wouldn't want a mishmash of two different releases.

Re: Gladiator Re-release and Robin Hood (2010) Release News
I've got my Gladiator BD back today and they've sent me my original USA disc back (oddly there is no stamp though, WTF!). It includes a letter saying as it's the USA disc, I'll need to contact Paramount in America. It includes a USA telephone number and e-mail address. Obviously I'm not going to bother and will eBay it. I can then re-buy (from The UK obviously, just in case I get the dodgy version).
Oh well, worth a try. Actually is it worth sending back to America? It seems like a lot of hassle. Universal UK are accepting UK discs sent overseas. I'm thinking it's going to be easier to sell on eBay and re-buy. I shouldn't be out of pocket.
EDIT: The USA disc is only bloody Region A
. The UK one is Region Free. That'll make it trickier to sell.
Salty: The person you mentioned must've just got lucky.
Grim: Have you managed to find out a reliable place to buy the new version?

They said,
Hello Simon,
From your e-mail, I understand that there has been a new remastered edition of Gladiator released on Blu-Ray DVD and that there are identifying features on the packaging which do distinguish it as the remastered version. However I will need to investigate this issue with the appropriate department further.
I will contact you again by 25th of October 2010 with an update.
We are currently aware of this issue and are waiting for further information. As soon as we have this information, I will update you accordingly. Please expect a further update by 25/08/10.
Thank you for your patience and for bringing this matter to our attention.

Re: Gladiator Re-release and Robin Hood (2010) Release News
the likelihood is it'll be the new version.Loads over at avforums have had the remastered disc from Play especially.worse case scenario you can just send it off for exchange if by some small chance you get the old one.annoying but no hardship is it.

and what if they tell you they have the corrected version and then send you the old one? you then would send it straight off to universal rather than return it to play/amazon for fear of getting another old copy.just order it,it's £9.99 ffs!!bradavon wrote:True. Re: Gladiator Re-release and Robin Hood (2010) Release News
Of course but I'd like to be told the one I've ordered from, say they have it. Instead of a dozen retailers I've no idea.saltysam wrote:you then would send it straight off to universal rather than return it to play/amazon for fear of getting another old copy.
I intent to but no harm waiting a few days for feedback first. If Play say they do and Amazon don't, it makes things easier for me.saltysam wrote:just order it,it's £9.99 ffs!!
How much better is it, in your opinion Salty?

Re: Gladiator Re-release and Robin Hood (2010) Release News
Where has that been confirmed? Thanks btw. I should be able to eBay my old one for a tenner but really, really annoyingly the USA discs are Region A. Why? When the UK ones are region free and Paramount/Universal released them at the same time.saltysam wrote:Play have been shipping the new one for weeks.
Me either. I was much better than the DVD in several ways. Not what it should've been but still an upgrade. It's worth re-buying still.saltysam wrote:it's better but then i didn't think the old one was the thing from hell most people did.i'm no av expert i'm afraid.

Re: Gladiator Re-release and Robin Hood (2010) Release News
Got this a few days ago:
Hello Simon,
Thank you for being patient with us.
I can confirm that the Blu Ray of Gladiator that we have on the site right now is the newly remastered 2010 version and it does contain the "Pocket BLU" on the back of the box.
I hope this satisfies any queries you may have and if you have any further queries please do not hesitate to contact Amazon.co.uk.
Did I solve your problem?
