"My Way" - original French lyrics?

Post by grim_tales »

Anyone know what "My Way" was called before Paul Anka wrote the English lyrics (for Frank Sinatra) to it? :)
The story goes David Bowie was approached to write new words but he couldnt come up with anything, Paul Anka took on the job.. et voila! ;)

EDIT: Here they are. :)

M'aider Tom ;)

1) What the hell does it mean?
2) How did this become My Way then? :) It'd be interesting to hear how it originally sounded.

Time for Babelfish I think ;)

Anyone???

I'd be interested to hear how the original French version sounds when compared to the English version. I've tried to "fit" the French to the tune of "My Way" (presumably the tune is the same :? ) but its not easy.

Woops, sorry Grim.
I never visit this part of the forum.

Claude François (famous french singer who died electrocuted in his bathtub) wrote the lyrics of "Comme d'habitude".

Here's a very rough translation:

I get up and push you
You don't wake up (as usual)
On your body I put the drapes
I'm afraid you'll get cold (as usual)
My hand runs through your hair
I can't control it (as usual)
But you turn your back on me
as usual

-- I'll translate the rest later, gotta work this afternoon --

Here's a link to the original french song:

I used to be "the man who loves the movies you hate".
Now I'm just "that weird french guy with a cat avatar who comes to BnB once a year for no reason and then disappears again".

Then I get dressed very quickly
I leave the bedroom as always
Alone I drink my coffee
I'm late as usual
Quietly I leave the house
Everything is grey outside as usual
I'm cold, I put on some clothes
as usual

--next part tomorrow.--
I used to be "the man who loves the movies you hate".
Now I'm just "that weird french guy with a cat avatar who comes to BnB once a year for no reason and then disappears again".

Sorta...

Comme = Like
d'habitude = The Habit (or My Habit)

Comme d'habitude = As usual (for me), as always (for me), my way ( :D ).

As usual, all day long
I will be pretending
As usual I'll be smiling
As usual i'll even be laughing
As usual, finally I'll live
As usual

And then daylight will leave
I will come back as usual
You will be out
Not home yet, as usual
Alone I'll go to bed
In this big cold bed as usual
My tears I will hide
As usual

As usual, even in the night
I will be pretending
As usual you'll come back
As usual I'll wait for you
As usual you'll smile
As usual

As usual you will undress
As usual you will come to bed
As usual we will kiss
As usual

As usual we will pretend
As usual we will make love
As usual we will pretend

--Done !-- :D
