thanks for posting these.
Considering the Blu Ray is 1080i, how come those screens do not indicate interlacing whereas the Dvd clearly does? I'll send you some screencaps of the R2 later on Sam, if you wouldn't mind editing them into your post.

Something isn't right about these dvd screencaps. They should be around 852x480 but your dvd caps are coming up 1304x734. If I recall, you take your caps via Media Player Classic? If so, that would explain the inflated dimensions but assuming you took caps for the blu ray using MPC, then it would be in "proportion" to one another for the intent of basic comparison. However, for comparing screencaps taken via WinDvd,etc such as the ones I took of the R2, the comparison would be a bit misleading considering the discrepancy in screenshot dimensions(at least with the dvds, not the blu ray).

Hmm, so does VLC not maintain original aspect ratio or are you manually setting it a different aspect ratio?
Out of curiosity, whats the point in resizing the images? Wouldn't that skew the integrity of the screencaps?

Yeah, I've noticed salty's DVD captures are upscaled (anamorphic: NTSC = 852x480 and PAL = 1024x576) on a few comparisons.

Maybe he forgot to switch his de-interlacer off as well?

Because someone moaned on here about the dvd and blu-ray caps being different sizes.

I've added oldeschool's region 2 caps and redone my dvd ones to the original 853x480. Think this'll be my last comparison for a while, i'm pretty much the only one who bothers with them these days and they are routinely met with indifference (The Wild Geese on hasn't got a single reply  ) or moans they are the wrong size, comments about deinterlacers etc....i'll quit while i'm behind

I haven't heard of a lot of the films you do comparisons for, if you happened to do one for one I wanted to see I'm sure I'd be grateful :)

Dont get discouraged man. I'm glad you are doing them. I wouldn't take these comments as complaints though. Most are merely simple questions or suggestions for optimal/adequate comparisons. I always offer to help out in your threads but never get a response from you.

Keep them coming salty :D!

I may not post in every one (probably because I don't know about the film), but I do look at them :).

Yeah, if I don't post it's probably just because I'm not interested in the film.
