Brown calls Labour voter a bigot

Post by grim_tales »

Brown shouldnt have let his private thoughts slip IMO, calling her a bigot was OTT. As far as I can see she brought up the subject of immigration and Brown said something to the effect of "Lots of British people emigrate too", thats where it should have ended. He seemed to be doing quite well up until the bigot comment (when getting in the car).

She probably is a bigot.massive own goal by Brown though, played right into Murdoch's hands. not much different to Cameron telling his son he looked like someone "who'd just fell out of a council flat" unfortunately for Brown that wasn't recorded for everyone to hear.

From what "we" heard of the interview she seemed OK but maybe she is a bigot... dunno, as you say Brown shouldnt have said it. Shows you have to be very careful what you say I guess.
The lady seemed to express her point fairly reasonably.

Why would you assume the old lady was a bigot? Unless you think anyone who questions Labour's immigration policy counts as one? I suppose that would include me alongside a few million others. Brown got caught out but at least we know what he really thinks. He's an offensive oaf and the sooner he's voted out the better.

i don't know the woman but judging from what i heard from her my take is she may well be a bigot.immigrants bring a diversified culture to our great nation and i salute them. When the Tories get in it'll be interesting to come back to threads like these in a couple of years and see how much they've improved on the discredited Labour policies.

Try living near to some of the lesser ones, you will change your thoughts.

Her comment was rather poorly expressed, sounding too much like a tabloid headline, odd, considering how sensible her other questions are.

And yet...isn't Brown bigoted for dismissing her under a half-formed sentence?

And really, it makes you wonder why Brown said "bigot" and not "f*cking whiney old cow" like a normal person :)

Well said. Yes, it's got out of hand and needs some form of control but some people seem to think, immigration is a new thing in The UK. They forget our country has literally been built on migrants. I'd hate to live in a country, where everyone was from the same background. Immigration makes a country so much richer.

Well bloody said. Some people aren't happy, unless they're moaning.

When did he say that?

I don't remember hearing the woman say "I hate immigrants". Please quote me the part where she says something bigotted. I'd like to read it.
immigrants bring a diversified culture to our great nation and i salute them.
A quote straight out of the PC handbook.

I have no problem with immigrants. I think immigration is a good thing. Not uncontrolled/unmonitored immigration, however, which is what the old dear was asking about. No other country allows that. And when unemployment, schools and hospitals suffer under pressure of migrant influx then, yes, there's a problem that needs to be sensibly addressed. And by sensibly I don't mean either "get rid of all 'em dirty foreigners" or crying "bigot".
