Lostdragon, so what's your opinion of the portrayal of muslims in entertainment (not counting satire like South Park or Team America)? Eg the villains in 24 Season 2&4?

if the answers were already there it wouldnt make for a very good discussion now would it ;)

My favorite theory against religeon that i've ever heard (not for its likliness, just for the imagination...) is that the bible was the first ever book of short stories, all written around a central theme and loosly based around events and legends of the time making it the best selling working of fiction of all time... :P

I would like to see a prophet or messiah or <insert important religeous figure here> appear and make such an impact that the majority of the relevant religeon actually believes they are who they say they are. It may have ahppened in the past but in the modern world even the more devout followers of the various religeons would have problems believing in such a person.

But the real reason I would like this to happen is so that people could see the reaction of those in charge of the various faiths. I would hope it would finally reveal that the people in charge like being in charge, anyone coming along as a prophet or messiah would be a direct threat to this power and as such they would never allow it. I have never understood why any religeon needs an authority structure, surely the belief and adherence to those beliefs does not require a middleman to ge to god or Allah or whoever the individual is worshipping??

LOL Mordib that reminds me of Red Dwarf joke.
Acrcheologists have discovered what is believed to be a missing page from the Bible. If genuine, it belongs at the beginning, and is believed to read
To my darling Candy, all characters and situations portaryed in this work are fictitious and any similarity to persons living or dead is purely coincidental
:P As I've said about POTC, people can come up with different stories (eg about Jesus). Just because it was written down in the Gospels doesnt mean thats the "correct" story.

Speaking of the Passion of the Christ, that's an awful film. It's poorly acted, poorly written, relies on a existing knowledge of the story and is entirely gratuitous with it's extreme level of violence/gore.

Poorly acted?! I agree about the exsisting knowledge bit as they only show one account (the one written in the gospels).
As for the violence, do you mean you'd rather we see Christ's suffering without actually "seeing" it, because thats what the film is about. How can you make a film about the suffering he went through without showing the violence?

Regardless of format... I don't believe a bloody word of it.

If the characters in these stories did ever exist I'm sure the written tales are little more than fiction based loosely on reality. Yeah, maybe a young girl named Mary had a boy named Jesus in a stable (but immaculate conception???) Oh, come on!! I bet lots of underage girls have tried that one on their parents. "No, really, Dad, it's just popped out!"

Do what German videogame censors often do, make him either a zombie w/ green blood or a robot w/ blue blood.
