NTSC to PAL to NTSC would presume they got it from Asia originally and there's no reason to believe that's the case. PAL to NTSC will look as bad as NTSC to PAL.

It actually looks more like the German e-m-s version.bradavon wrote:WTF! How come! WTF! Grrr! I bet they used the HKL master or something. I wouldn't normally think this but the menu design is almost identical.

They do look very similar dont they (you can tell by the way the song is done).Markgway wrote:The subs appear to be HKL's too.
What were the "nicknames" used in HKL's version? I thought originally they were Dumbo and Mickey Mouse or something but "Shrimp Head" just sounds mean.

Them names are still up in the air, they do not want to be taken to court by Disney.grim_tales wrote:Dumbo and Mickey Mouse

Re: The Official "Dragon Dynasty" Thread!
I'm happy with my HKL but if I liked it as much as some of you guys, I'd still get it. Despite it's flaws, it's unlikely to look any better for sometime to come. Assuming it actually looks better than one of the DVDs of course. The combing (right word, right?) in the third capture looks rubbish.

It says DTS-HD MA. Good to see the Theatrical Cut of Tom Yum Goong is included too. I don't "think" it was on their DVD.

I can see the DTS-HD logo unfortunately the info grid only states DTS & Dolby.

Agreed. I hate when they do that too but it's obvious it means DTS-HD MA, given the logo too.

Re: The Official "Dragon Dynasty" Thread!
This time round, Spanish subtitles aren't listed on the international version (because they weren't included originally). Technically, it shouldn't be called that. There's three versions:
1) Thai - uncut.
2) International (approved by Luc Besson?) - about 20 minutes cut.
3) Dragon Dynasty - about 30 minutes cut.
Best version on DVD is Premier Asia's - shame they won't be able to do a Blu-Ray (unless Cine-Asia acquired it?). However, purists will find it's apparently looped in some of the English dialogue (to which DD's probably unaltered). If Dragon Dynasty include Premier Asia's subtitles (slightly better), then it should increase it's value - shame they didn't give DTS to the uncut version.
There's a comparison between the Dragon Dynasty and Premier Asia DVDs (http://adg.invisionzone.com/index.php?showtopic=1571).

I thought DD simply used the International cut, no? The Premier Asia DVD is very good. I had no complaints.

Re: The Official "Dragon Dynasty" Thread!
So when they say "uncut International version" it's actually cut by 20 mins?
Does the Thai version on PA's DVD have the original score or a new score like Ong Bak (which I thought was fine TBH).
