I think the trailer would be in Standard Definition - Celestial tend to care less about motion-picture archival material.

That's classic Grim,he'll only get the BD if it's got the trailer. i'm sure he reads posts on other forums sometimes and then decides to follow suit (no offence Grim) ;)as you seem to know this film, what version do you currently have?

I have the IVL (non anamorphic).
Of course if its anamorphic, progressive, probably worth a purchase, the original trailers are cool though.

The Blu-Rays may actually be the best releases yet.

The DVDs were a mess, but these would likely be real HD and if they listened to people who communicated with them, mono and remastered subtitles could make their way too.

This company means nothing to me with regards to Blu Ray. If they could put out a shittier dvd than IMAGE/IVL, that's telling you something. I'd like them to prove me wrong though. Has Well Go USA gone on record to fix the problems that have been pointed by the videophiles? If you recall Chen, based on our previous discussions on KFC, when contact was made with Well Go USA, they sounded like they didn't give a shit.

Saltysam and others hoping to do blu ray screens, apparently this guy was able to get blu ray screens via media player classic playing the main *.m2ts file

Heroic Ones looked ok to me but then i'm easily pleased. i'm old enough to remember the only way to see these films way back were shitty fullscreen Warner Home Video releases, compared to them these releases are manna from heaven.

This method works but saves the blu-ray image as a bitmapfile,i have no idea how to upload the file here in that format :? Shingster has given me a guide but i haven't had time to try it yet.

Don't you have any art applications that convert to JPEG? If not you could upload the bitmaps to MegaUpload, send me the link and I'll convert and upload them for you.

Well Go and Image's Shaw releases suck badly.

I actually like the Dragon Dynasty ones - only major complaint was the awful new subs on Come Drink With Me - and I do wish they'd release more. Looking forward to May's release of Return Of One Armed Swordsman.

I just wish we could have better dvds of the 70s Golden Harvest films. I prefer them to the Shaws.

Yeah the DD subs on Come Drink With Me were pretty poor, if not awful. Shame as the image is so good.

Shouldn't Photoshop perserve image resolution when converting to jpg? Honestly, I dont know of any other progs other than Photoshop. Unless you use Paintshop pro, but i haven't used that in years and apparently they suck now.

Any proggy that can open bitmaps and save to jpg should keep the resolution, you could also try googling "convert bmp to jpg" and see if any decent programs are freely available.

Alternatively you could use the little JPG conversion method Lourdes created for DVD comparison screenshots back in the day:

http://www.megaupload.com/?d=8VMO3E2A

Just put your bitmaps in the same folder as those two programs, change the filename of your bitmap to a number between 01 to 10 (01, 02, 03, etc so basically you can convert up to 10 bitmap images at a time) and double click on the batch file that has the filename: 1080 and it will do the rest for you.

Hey,

Has anyone got the Well Go BD of Heroic Ones yet? Just wondered how it compared to the Celestial? Decent picture, mono, uncut?

Celestial is the copyright owner of Shaw Brothers films who license their films to different distributors such as Dragon Dynasty, Well Go, Image, IVL. What you are trying to compare is the IVL version.

Spannick did not have anything positive to say about the Well Go BD's. From what I can remember, its interlaced, picture lacks fine grain/detail, and shit subs.
