Spy Next Door - Jackie Chan - Trailer
Latest Jackie Chan-film. Man, why does he keep picking bad movies? I have nothing against a "Jackie Chan family oriented film", but he should at least chose a project with a well-written character. Bring on "Kung Fu Kid" and "Big Soldier, Small General".

Jackie's become what Deniro has, lazy. He picks easy roles, instead of pushing himself. He knows family U rated fun sells and is no trouble.

Looks a lame-o film
Like a cross between Tuxedo and Kindergarten Cop, like LD I have nothing against good family films but this just looks bad.

If this turned out to be as much fun as Kindgeraten Cop I would have no complaints.

Re: Spy Next Door - Jackie Chan - Trailer
Didn't exactly care enough about it to 'fear' it, but when I first heard the premise and saw the trailer, I did fully expect this to fail miserably. Not surprising.
Luckily, The Karate Kid also had a kinda lame-sounding premise, but at least that trailer DID look very promising.
On a related note of Jackie flicks with a lame idea, I watched The Forbidden Kingdom last night, and although not a very good movie, and lots of things that are wrong with it, it was kinda entertaining, in a 'when I have kids I'm sure they'll love this movie' kinda way.

I was there, the big BNB blackout of november, 2008. We lost many that day...

I didn't mind Forbidden Kingdom-while no classic it's still better than the likes of Rob-B-Hood,Tuxedo,Medallion,Rush Hour 3 etc...

That's what I said: it's entertaining, and actually has a couple of good fights, and some inside 'jokes' en references to us who know the genre. It's not a very good movie. It easily could have been better, and it has enough stuff to criticise, but when you have 2 hours to spend, you could do worse than this movie. Certainly not a must-have for me, but I bet when I have kids they'll probably enjoy it. It's a little bit of a kung-fu version of The Wizard of Oz.saltysam wrote:I didn't mind Forbidden Kingdom-while no classic it's still better than the likes of Rob-B-Hood,Tuxedo,Medallion,Rush Hour 3 etc...

Forbidden Kingdom was quite good IMO, as Yi says, some little jokes and references for us. Certainly better than Tuxedo IMO.

Limped into US theatres with a paltry $9.7M weekend take. No.6 in the chart (which is poor for a big new release). Expect it to drop out of the top ten within the next two weeks. Without Chris Tucker Jackie can't score a hit. Sad, but true.
