"Crying Freeman" is by far the best from France. The UK DVD for example is a crud DD2.0 + 4:3 P&S DVD. There is very little non-English, the UK DVD is very cheap so you could always pick it up afterwards for the non-English sections.
I don't think it has forced subs. I've certainly never heard anyone complain about them, not that it would bother me for the little non-English there is.
The new French cover is better but it still has the bad grammar title!
Are "Triad Zone" and "Leave me alone" any good?
Why do they keep the English title?

I "think" Tartan have it in the UK.EvaUnit02 wrote:Did someone also have scheduled a R1 or UK release of Longest Nite?

The Shiri cover is still bad and I don't think much of the "Breaking News" one. The rest are gorgeous, French DVD cover art designers should win awards.Tom2681 wrote:The final covers for the 3rd wave of Asian Star titles have arrived:

Strange 5.1 hasn't been given when it was released only in 1997 and the HK DVD has one.Tom2681 wrote:2.35 Anamorphic transfer.
DD2.0 Cantonese track.
DD5.1 French dub.
Forced french subs.
10-min Johnnie To interview.

I've always known this movie as "The Longest Nite".Brad wrote:The new French cover is better but it still has the bad grammar title!
Just like "One Nite in Mongkok", Longest Nite has always been spelled that way AFAIK.

I've only seen "Leave Me Alone" and I didn't like it much, even though I'm a big Ekin Cheng and Charlene Choi fan.Are "Triad Zone" and "Leave me alone" any good?
The comedy aspect didn't work for me, neither did the story.
+ I thought that the portrayal of the "Gay Ekin Cheng" was laughable.

These movie titles were probably never translated into french, so they use the english title to avoid any confusion. Are "Triad Zone" and "Leave me alone" any good?

Since many people have complained about the Shiri cover, Asian Star have decided to let people vote for their favorite cover among these :

HKL should do the same with some of their covers.

hehehe, 4 out of 5 choices are pretty much the same one, namely the one with the chick which is exactlyw hy everyone complains, cause it mispresents the movie...
5th choice will get all the votes from the complainers, even though artistically it really isnt all that pretty...

Update:
Kubik Vidéo will release 3 korean films before the end of the year:
-Natural City:

In a 2-Disc DTS edition with a making-of AND Audio Commentary by the director.
The only downside is that the DTS track will be given to the french dub.
(I guess I'll have to keep my Korean disc for the film and buy the french for the extras
).
-A Family.
-Springtime (2004 - With Choi Min-Sik).

Indeed it is SUPPOSED to be shit.
What it really is is a remake of Blade Runner with high-class CGI mixed with typical korean melodrama.
Casshern, Legend of Zu, Devilman, Natural City...some people love them, some people hate them.
Most people don't know how to appreciate good movies IMO.
+ reviews are always unfair. Most reviewers hated Casshern even before it was released, just because the director used to be a music video director.
-Casshern: the best and smartest film I have EVER seen. With great actors, great music, great CGI and a great story.
-Legend of Zu: almost as good as Green Snake but with better special effects.
-Devilman: great story, great cinematography but crappy actors.
-Natural City: Failan mixed with Matrix and Blade Runner.
P.S: I don't want to have an argument about which films are great and which films are shit.
+ If you think that Sin City rocks, then you and I have absolutely nothing in common.

News:
Kenta Fukasaku, son of the late Kinji Fukasaku, and director of the highly controversial Battle Royale 2 has finished working on his second movie:
"We are looking for the Moon" which will star none other than Edison Chen.

I wonder how this one will turn out...

Update:
I've said it before, but it's now been confirmed:
Asian Premiums will release 2 korean titles on October 5th:
Gingko Bed:

The Legend of Gingko:

Both dvds should contain the same extras as the korean releases.
I can't guarantee the subs will be removable, though.
