Yes, it's wonderful really. Let's just ignore the risks. As long as you get to dance like a wide-eyed tit that's all that matters.
Alcohol numbs the frontal cortex and makes you unable to think straight, therefore causing you to do stupid things.
And yet it's never had that effect on me, even when I've had multiple shots. Try again.

That isn't what Gas was saying and you knew it :icon_suspect:

Hardly medical scientific evidence there Mark.

And the effects of alcohol vary from person to person. Two/three pints beer etc (with food) is enough for me TBH.
Anyway in moderate amounts beer/alcohol makes you more sociable, its only if you over indlulge you look like a tit and wake up with a sore head (unless you drink lots of water before sleeping).

I was comparing with what Gas said about MDMA etc (though I'd never take hard drugs).

So you've taken soft illegal drugs then? I don't "think" any of the drugs we're talking about are classified as hard drugs. Gas is the expert here.

Yeah it did anger me somewhat when I saw MDMA referred to as that  Again, for the zillionth time, BBC'S HORIZON RANKED DRUGS ON THEIR DANGER LEVEL, AND MDMA CAME LOWER DOWN ON THE LIST THAN ALCOHOL. So if you're going to call MDMA a 'hard' drug, then alcohol bloody well is too.

For the last time: ABUSE of alcohol is dangerous. That does not make it inherently more dangerous than MDMA. Anyone who thinks it does is either ill-informed or a fucking idiot. The reason alcohol causes more deaths is because more people use alcohol than MDMA and of those who use more people abuse it. That's not a one pill vs one shot contest.

No I haven't. Sorry I should have been more clear. Never smoked either. Smoking is harmful (or can be) but the govt. wont ban it as it makes them lots of lovely taxes.
But again it affects different people differently, you hear of people who have smoked living into their 90's or something. But the way thats used as a pro argument by smokers is bonkers - its like saying "I've never been struck by lightning, so lightning doesnt hit people". Smoking related diseases DO kill people.

What does that link tell me that I don't already know? Any discerning drug user knows not to combine different drugs, take the drug 4 days in a row, or take too much of it in one go...

That's what I said. :) Abuse of anything is dangerous I guess, too much sugar/chocolate makes you fat, etc.

With respect Gas,you talk about drug taking as if it's the coolest thing alive, when in fact the opposite is true. You keep coming back to the alcohol issue as if banging on about that justifies drug taking in some way :?

Just reading about some of the effects MDMA can have makes me not want to take it.

Not from my perspective. I read someone just putting some perspective on it and stating the facts, as he sees it.

The trouble is, we all know Drugs can be dangerous but most people act like they're the anti-Christ, and almost always choose to think alcohol is somehow much more acceptable. It's especially irritating when people lump all drugs into one "bad" batch, when the truth is they differ wildly in danger.

Yet you've drunk alchol, which carries serious dangers too, as have everyone one this forum. The same goes for cigarettes.

Yes I know you need to abuse alcohol Mark but for many having one drink leads to more.

Stop trying to justify your immature drug use/absinthe abuse/arse banditry with waffle Brad.

No worries Gas. People can be so closed minded when it comes to drugs.
saltysam wrote:Stop trying to justify your immature drug use/absinthe abuse/arse banditry with waffle Brad.
It's immature to assume all illegal drugs are the same. No one is trying to justify, say anything is cool or certainly suggest anyone tries anything. Just putting things in context and trying to have an adult conversation about these things, without it resorting to "all drugs are bad, enough said".

Who said I abused absinthe? A friend offered me a shot, I drank it. You've never drank a shot of hard liqueur someone's bought? I doubt it. As to "arse banditry", are still sure you have no problem with gay people?
gasteropod wrote:I'm not a druggie scumbag, honest. :)
I at least, never thought you were.

I've tried a handful of illegal drugs, as I said they didn't do that much for me, don't feel people have the right to judge me, don't feel that I should feel bad about it either, don't think it's cool (but then neither is getting plastered, yet most of us have done it). Such is life, each to their own.

Only 1/every cigarette is dangerous. One beer doesnt hurt you because your system cleans itself. I'm just saying I dont want to try drugs just to say ive done it.

I drink lager/cider too though I tried whisky, ouzo etc. and don't like them much. Champagne is fine.
