People really should stop comparing T4 and frankly T3 to what came before. It's so pointless. In it's own right T4 is a decent enough action film IMO and suitable dark. It's miles better than T3.

I wasn't comparing T4 for to anything when I wanted to walk out of the theatre during the highway chase...

I never watched T3 or T4.
I think you're better off just watching T1 and T2, and then perhaps checking out The Sarah Conners Chronicles...

I was there, the big BNB blackout of november, 2008. We lost many that day...

Some of the Sarah Conner Chronicles episodes are fantastic but many are merely average. T4 (given it's a film not TV series) is on par with it. Don't go in expecting T1-T2 and T4 IMO is a decent action film. I'll be buying it.
T3 is largely rubbish though.

I watched S1 of the Sarah Connor Chronociles and thought it was middle-of-the-road episode by numbers crap - FAR worse than even T3. The season finale was the only decent episode.

Really? The scene where the female terminator learns ballet and when she leaves those immigrants for dead, come to mind as powerful stuff.
Series 1 is better than Series 2 IMO.

ERR..Why?they are sequels so why shouldn't they be compared?that's like saying Godfather 3 shouldn't be compared to 1 & 2!bradavon wrote:People really should stop comparing T4 and frankly T3 to what came before. It's so pointless.
Miles better? i don't think so.Noisy and loud do not a good film make.Bale's wooden showing drops it down a level straight away.bradavon wrote: It's miles better than T3.

South Park:Bigger,Longer & Uncut BD 4/5
Bonkers musical based on the hit tv series manages to feature a gay Saddam Hussein,Satan,Winona Ryder,Kill off the whole Baldwin family and offend the entire canadian population during it's 80 minute running time.the crude animation doesn't really lend itself to HD and extras are scant but it's probably the best this'll ever look.
Transformers:Revenge Of The Fallen BD (IMAX Edition) 2.5/5
No surprises here, crazily overlong (151 minutes!) dumbass plotline but to be honest how much plot are you going to get from a film based on a toyline! But you come to this knowing what to expect,Giant robot action and on that level it scores.Megan Fox looks hot and has little else to do she suffers the indignity of seeming to enjoy having her leg humped by a randy robot, typical crass Bay humour Lebouef is ok in the lead. This walmart exclusive imax edition repeats the Dark Knight experiment of opening up the imax scenes to 1:78:1 and the forest fight in particular looks truly amazing opened up this way.

So I take it the aspect ratio change does not bug you then?
Dark Knight did my head in doing that, so I have avoided the Transformers opened up edition as it sounds a lot more hectic editing and aspect ratio changing for me. Still it is a shame the entire film was not just opened up to fill your screen, rather than only doing a few bits for Imax only and walmart only.

not at all,it works fine for me.There's not much of it in Transformers, basically 2 scenes adding up to maybe 5-6 minutes.romerojpg wrote:So I take it the aspect ratio change does not bug you then?
it's Michael Bay,he's the king of hectic editing no matter what the ratio!romerojpg wrote:sounds a lot more hectic editing .

I'd hump Megan Fox's leg... I'd have to after wearing her fanny out!

A Christmas Carol: 4/5
I really enjoyed it. It looks visually spectacular, with some great animation, using the same "performance capture" technique from The Polar Express. Jim Carrey is remarkable playing 4 characters and there are moments of sadness but the ending left me warm and fuzzy

It's an extremely bland and half-arsed adaptation of A Christmas Carol that is full of redundant action set pieces: "Oh look! The ghost of christmas past has gone, let's have a chase sequence! Oh look! The ghost of christmas present has gone, let's have a chase sequence!" over and over. Jim Carey is also horrendously miscast as Scrooge, he sounds like a 25yr old trying to sound like an old man.

Isn't that what he's supposed to do?
I see what you mean, if his name hadnt come up at the end I wouldnt have known it was him.
I haven't seen "proper" film versions but know the story
Isn't It's a Wonderful Life related to it (kind of?)
Doesn't Tiny Tim have a much bigger part in the novel? In the movie he gets - one line
But that aside I read it was faithful to the novel.

Not that I remember.
I meant to say I haven't read the original book.

Taking Of Pelham 1-2-3 BD 3/5
2nd viewing of this remake,it's ok, good performances from Washington & Travolta.Scott cranks up the tension nicely though the ending is a little flat and the movie is clearly inferior to the original.Awesome looking & sounding BD.
