UK: Dawn of the Dead (1978) Special Edition
http://www.dvdtimes.co.uk/content/id/71 ... tober.html
Sounds like a good package.
Shame that the preview cut and the Argento cut have been relegated to DVD only.
"DTS HD and Stereo audio options"
I'm positive that this was recorded in mono so hopefully stereo just means dual channel mono.
If HMV sell this at a knockdown price on-line I'll pick it up. Otherwise I'll wait until the wide release in March.
Also which of the four covers do you guys like best?
I'd stick with the main artwork shown.

Already out in america, unless its a brand new transfer then I dont see the point for me (for others it may be fine). I have the american Blu Ray and the Ultimate DVD set, so at the moment the UK package is worthless to me.
Anchor Bay america is working on a new cut of the film apprently its all versions edited together into the longest version ever made
cannot wait to see what hapens with it.

I have the Ultimate Ed set also... but if I get the UK BD I can sell that. I understand it might not be worth the upgrade if you already have a BD and the UE though.romerojpg wrote:Already out in america, unless its a brand new transfer then I dont see the point for me (for others it may be fine). Re: UK: Dawn of the Dead (1978) Special Edition
Overkill is not a word to me, I want the longest version of the film, then it saves me watching the 3 different versions out there. Mind you it has been out edited like that in Germany, but it was a shit version with no english
Only thing I will be interested to see on this new UK Blu Ray, is how it compares vissually to the american transfer
they are re-doing a new one in the UK they say, so we will see what a little UK company can do agaisnt the mightly Anchor bay

Anchor Bay dropped the ball years ago, they hardly release anything these days.romerojpg wrote:we will see what a little UK company can do agaisnt the mightly Anchor bay

Still the only review so far of the UK disc is more concerned about reviewing the film than the quality of the disc.

Has the US Blu Ray got HD audio?
DTS is brilliant on the Divimax DVD.

Looks quite dark.
I take it PCM 2.0 Stereo is just 2 channel mono?

From DVD Times:
"The Arrow disc does not include the original mono track of the US version"
Just saved me £20. Thx.

The DTS on the old dvd was amazing, it improved the sound vastly, you could hear so much, and I am not on about fancy surround sound either. It was just vastly better in every way, dialogue was far clearer.
Mono sucks balls, get over it.

Re: UK: Dawn of the Dead (1978) Special Edition
I can confirm that the Anchor Bay BD has a mono track. It only has the TC, but that's George's preferred version, so that's all that I care about.Markgway wrote:From DVD Times:

Re: UK: Dawn of the Dead (1978) Special Edition
Anchor bay has the Origanal English Dolby Digital 2.0 Mono 192 Kbps soundtrack as I compared the new sound to the older mono one to see how clear they all were
the new tracks are an improvment, as the speach etc.. is better, clearer and more defined than the mono. You hear everything that little bit better on the new tracks. It is not as if they have added new sounds and done this amazing surround sound remix or anything.

Re: UK: Dawn of the Dead (1978) Special Edition
What confuses me is the inclusion of a 2.0 stereo track on the Arrow Ed.
Why bother with a downmix but not original mono?
Surely if you don't mind fiddled with audio you would skip 2.0 and go straight for the 5.1.
Can someone explain their thinking.
