There's no one here I want to see seriously injured or worse dead.
There's at least one I'd like to knee in the knackers though...

Once Upon A Time in China looks like another failed attempt from Fortune Star to produce a proper Blu-ray Disc release

Thats clearly an upscale
Rubbish. No company will get my money until a decent release is made
I'll keep my DVD set.

Sweet baby jesus, could that be the most severe DNR in the history of Blu-ray?

Re: Asian Movies in HD!
Well admittedly my saying that was based on the poster saying "OUATIC also upscales" but looking at the caps they sure look very soft and not very HD-like. I know we're talking about an HK film that is almost 20 years old but still.

Re: Asian Movies in HD!
I Have a feeling (could well be wrong) that it won't be an upscale but an overzealously dnr'd image...i'll have my copy by the end of the week.

OMG! OMG! OMG! I love these films
. That DNR is hideous. As that other poster says you cannot tell if it's an upscale or not given how processed it is.
I'm starting to like the Bruce Lee BDs just a little bit more than I did before.

Re: Asian Movies in HD!
That comment is pretty silly though imo, just because you can see detail not in the DVD releases doesn't mean you're not looking at a standard definition upscale. I highly doubt in Police Story's case that the current DVD releases represent the maximum detail you can possibly get at 480p.saltysam wrote:http://forum.blu-ray.com/showpost.php?p ... tcount=124

Re: Asian Movies in HD!
Is there any BD of Red Cliff without a watermark? I thought the HK BD of Part 2 is watermark free but Part 1 isn't (annoyingly)

I think the two-parter might be coming out on BD/DVD in the UK.
But both parts are censored for horse trips (if that's an issue).

The specs of the UK disc are the hacked version, 2.5 hours missing, so no 2 parter announced yetMarkgway wrote:I think the two-parter might be coming out on BD/DVD in the UK.
But god only knows when a good version will come out, if ever.

@ Mark: Where did you read that?
Correct. You have to decide between the non-watermark DVD for Part 1 or the watermark BD.grim_tales wrote:Is there any BD of Red Cliff without a watermark? I thought the HK BD of Part 2 is watermark free but Part 1 isn't (annoyingly)

Was it Taiwan BD that was water-free, but open matte?
