Re: Is this a good BD player?
I got charged £28!!! yup £28 becuase some Indian call centre had NO good english speakers and they passed me on to another and another and another. £28!
It was a simple thing to get sorted, the only reason it cost me that much was becuase they could not understand a word I said and they spoke barley no english at all, it should have taken about 3 minutes, instead they were a joke. But I am sure it is ME that is at fault according to King Brad.
So anyone defending this shit like Brad is a moron. But hey Brad has so much spare time for everyone he will clean their bums with his mouth if they ask.

Re: Is this a good BD player?
Of course you want help quickly but "instantly" is unreasonable. The call centre people are only trying to do their job and shouldn't have to put with rudeness and unpleasant people. This applies to all workers.
It was annoying at times when I couldnt understand them when I tried to sort out our BB on the old PC and pay for this one.

That's the point Grim, the language barrier prevents them from doing their job properly!!grim_tales wrote: The call centre people are only trying to do their job
Agree but blame the big companies outsourcing this type of work for the problems.grim_tales wrote:and shouldn't have to put with rudeness and unpleasant people.
Exactly-do you call it good customer service when your BB provider is so cheap they hire cheapo overseas workers to deal with you?grim_tales wrote:It was annoying at times when I couldnt understand them when I tried to sort out our BB on the old PC and pay for this one.

Re: Is this a good BD player?
Most UK speakers help me instantly, within seconds when I have been put thru to them! it takes a massive amount longer for overseas calls to deal with the exact same problem. When I get put thru to UK people somehow magically it all gets sorted very quickly! but thats afterI complain and ask to be put thru to someone who can do the job.grim_tales wrote:Of course you want help quickly but "instantly" is unreasonable. and as for being rude etc.. I never once said I like that to them. I know how to talk on the phone, I do it for work and know when to ask for a manager becuase the staff are useless on the other end. When you are finally put thru to a person in the UK and they help in seconds, it shows you how crap overseas call centres can be (as not all are I am sure, just most I and everyone I know use).

Re: Is this a good BD player?
I've been stuck on plenty of ridiculously long phone calls when speaking to solely British people. Most of the trouble I find is with queue and call systems, sending you through endless options, not the actual people you speak to.
But I take Salty's point that asking for Tech Support for say Broadband is very technical by it's nature. Thankfully I've never had to call for Broadband Tech Support, any Tech Support actually. So I cannot really relate to that one. Maybe the things I've had to call for have been simpler. I still say patience goes a long way, something Romero clearly has none of.

The ones where you're stuck in a cue (and sometimes the messages are too damn quiet) really annoy me.

Re: Is this a good BD player?
My ISP (Be) uses Bulgarian support and they're very good. Well, when I called last week to get my static IP address details I did get mildly frustrated when the girl just read through the list and waited for me to confirm every ocet, 87. ...yes... 194. ....okay... this was for five addresses. I remembered most of it and tried to confirm what I had but she just carried on. Think she had some trouble understanding.
HSBC use Indian call centres as I've just recalled, but whenever I call they're spot-on even with complicated issues so I don't even notice. Might as well be British born.

Language-barriers aside the very idea of out-sourcing call centres to India for British companies designed to support British customers is patently absurd.

Like you say Language barriers aside, why? We've lived in an international world for decades now, times move on.
As to Lourdes' comments, according to Romero you must be talking bullshit, as they're foreigners so incapable of understanding English accents period. No doubt some of us on this forum have strong accents.

British jobs for british people.simple.our taxes are being used to pay social security to the unemployed while these major league companies give jobs that should be british based to whatever country will do it cheaply.and it's not just call centres-the Recent Makro jeans scandal comes to mind. i live in Liverpool,UK, if i have a problem with my phone/internet etc i want to talk to someone in this country ffs!it's simple logic.bradavon wrote:Like you say Language barriers aside, why? You are going on about holidays, travel and visiting other countries, you are talking total bollocks as not one person on here is on about that at all. You are on another world altogether the way you twist everyones quotes into something your mind thinks is reality is frankly a joke to everyone.

You're just moaning about how the "non English people" you work with cost you money, sounds pretty rude to me. They must be doing their job well enough otherwise they wouldn't be iin work still.

Xenophobia for Xenophobia. Obviously it's far from perfect and having a free for all always was a dumb idea but unlike many people I don't feel we have a right to a job "just because we happen to be born here". If a Polish guy is better at a job than a Brit, he should get it. Simple.saltysam wrote:British jobs for british people.
I guess I'm not blindly patriotic.
How does not understanding them cost you money?romerojpg wrote:I work with non english people, they cost me cash when I waste time talking to them regarding work as THEY CANNOT UNDERSTAND AND NOR CAN I AND EVERYONE ELSE, why should I have to use people who cannot do the job right!![]()
There's one thing to say it's annoying to call a South Asian call centre but it's another level to not even be be bothered to listen to your colleagues. I doubt they understand you all the time but they just ask you to repeat yourself, simple.
I know. I'm glad I don't have to work with him.grim_tales wrote:What a nice way to speak to your co-workers Romero

Re: Is this a good BD player?
If you have someone who can barley communicate with you or is very hard to understand and you have to say repeat that, excuse me, pardon every few seconds, and you get paid for doing a job by the second, and they take longer to communicate something to you than an English speaker, it costs me cash. Simple

He'd get it because just like your beloved indian call centres he's a cheaper option.meanwhile many of your countrymen are on the unemployment scrapheap.bradavon wrote: If a Polish guy is better at a job than a Brit, he should get it.

Fair point. I wasn't talking about a financial gain but a skill set/experience though.saltysam wrote:He'd get it because just like your beloved indian call centres he's a cheaper option.
Countrymen, blah, blah, blah. I don't feel greater empathy for someone just because I was born in the same country as them. I've never understood that, how someone will defend someone over another just because they're born in the same country, when they may not even know them from Adam.saltysam wrote:meanwhile many of your countrymen are on the unemployment scrapheap.

Yes because that's the exactly the point of what Saltysam is trying to say. I'd give it up Salty, you'd be better off trying to explain it to a deaf, comatosed, mentally retarded 5yr old.bradavon wrote:I've never understood that, how someone will defend someone over another just because they're born in the same country, when they may not even know them from Adam.
