Watched "Pitch Black", haven't yet viewed "God of Gamblers" and a PBS Hercule Poirot episode, all Netflix DVD rentals.

Just received "Attack the Gas Station"
"Bichunmoo"
"Born to Fight"

Waiting for several Stephen Chow films from a great deal on ebay.

My tastes are running all over the place!! Now all I need is time and a screen around here to watch some of them.
Any day you can get out of bed is a good day.

Yesterday I received:

- PSP Value Pack
- "Ridge Racer" for PSP

What an awesome machine. A lot of people have complained about the high price, but find me another machine with which you can play games in PS2 graphics (and higher), watch movies, listen to music and surf the internet as well (providing a WLAN router is somewhere close to you, like in a special type of café).

Now I just have to get that 1GB memory card, as I won't be able to store a converted DVD movie on a 32 MB memory card which came with the value pack.

Pfft PSP. Handhelds are pointless IMO, I'd rather put the cash it would take to purchase a PSP towards a Xbox360 deluxe pack (the option w/ the HDD and wireless controller).

I received last Friday:-
R2 UK Terminator 3 SE (DTS)

The thing is, it is not only a handheld gaming machine. You can watch movies on it (and not only the UMDs you can buy, but also mpeg-4 files you can load onto the memory card). I have a long train ride to work (40 minutes) and during the past week, I have watched one episode of "24" on each ride (when it was too crouded, I decided to rather read my book, as I can't stand people staring at me and at what I'm doing). With the provided head phones, it was an awesome experience (even though their volume seems a bit too low for me).

You can listen to music with it, load pictures on it and if you are in a hot spot area, you can access the internet with the web browser that is provided with the software update which comes with the PSP. This web browser can display anything but Flash animations. Writing long texts with it (emails for example) can be a problem. For typing words, a mobile phone pad is displayed on which you can move a cursor and enter the letters you wish to type. However, due to the USB port that the PSP has, many gadgets are planned to be released, such as a keyboard or a camera. A mouse isn't really necessary as you can move the cursor with the analog stick.

Besides... I have "Ridge Racer" and "Metal Gear Acid". Both are awesome games, especially "MGA". You'll have to get used to the unique gameplay, but once that's done, it will be an awesome experience to play this game. They could have added voice actors here as in the previous "Metal Gear Solid" games.

As for the X-Box 360. I hope this one will be better than the current X-Box. I had all three consoles, but sold my X-Box after half a year as I wasn't satisfied with it at all. It might have potential, but in my opinion there was only one exclusive game for it, which was worth being played and that is "Jade Empire". I'm looking forward to PS3 and Nintendo's Revolution. PS3 due to the awesome graphics (videos from the E3 blew all away I have ever known in terms of games graphics) and Revolution due to the promising gadgets, such as wireless controllers and dual disc format which makes you able to play GameCube games on it. Due to an online function, you will also be able to download old NES, SNES or N64 games for some money. I hope that I will then be able to play "Perfect Dark" in multiplayer with 3 friends and 8 bots without bucking.

It's such a shame Rare is now with X-Box! Have they released any game for X-Box apart from the remake of "Conker's Bad Fur Day"?

Although "Perfect Dark", "GoldenEye", "Jet Force Gemini" or "Banjoo-Kazooie" were designed by Rare, I think the distribution rights are still with Nintendo. Or let's say I hope, but I'm also pretty sure.

Yeah maybe, but the problem is that EA owns the Bond licence now (I think?)
Rare are supposed to be releasing "Perfect Dark Zero" for XBox 360 soon.

What about the DKC games?
I really hope you can download Goldeneye/Perfect Dark. I can't get my N64 to work to play Goldeneye :crybaby:

Yeah, but that doesn't mean that a third company who once owned the Bond-rights cannot distribute a game which was made at that time.

Yeah, I've heard about this. But I really don't wanna have three consoles. Argh...
What about the DKC games?
They were awesome. Would be cool if they'd get a downloadable re-release.
I can't get my N64 to work to play Goldeneye :crybaby:
Now that sucks!

I still have all 3 DKC SNES games, plus a (working?) SNES which are cast-iron classics IMO 8) DKC3 was the best :D
The graphics of all 3 games were astounding for the time, considering they were running on 16 bit software. :o

Fair point about the rights LD, would Rare need permission from EA though :?

UMDs is the biggest joke of a film format in years. 2.35:1 films often cropped down to 1.78:1. The medium can only hold 1.8GB; and they have trouble with DVD compression with when they have 9GB to fit a film on, the UMD compression artifacts must be incredibly bad.

Nice, still novelty though. I'd rather just use a PC.

PS2 I found was the most lacklustre console for my game tastes, the PS2 game I last bothered with was the fantastic MGS3. Other than Devil May Cry 3 and Silent Hill 4 (which I've still yet to buy) that console is dead to me. Xbox and GC were my most played consoles of the last generation.
PS3 due to the awesome graphics (videos from the E3 blew all away I have ever known in terms of games graphics)
You do know that all the PS3 game demos at the last E3 were pre-rendered by animation houses? The next gen consoles are vapourware to me until they're actually released.

I can play emulated NES, SNES, N64 games on my Xbox for free. I hope the Revolution incarnations of Metroid and Zelda are good.

They've also made Kameo, but that looks like kiddified crap to me.

I not all that excited about Perfect Dark Zero (X360) tbh. A big chunk of the talent who worked on Goldeneye and Perfect Dark left Rare and formed Free Radical, who are responsible for the TimeSplitters series and Second Sight.

Haven't heard about the cropping issue. Good to know, thanks. As for the only 1.8 GB... the thing is that with the size of the display it doesn't really matter if the film you play is 9GB or 1GB. I've watched a few UMDs so far and they look just amazing. Very crisp & clear. "Spider-Man 2" was a great experience on PSP.
But still, I think UMDs are too expensive for now. Hence, I prefer converting movies I have on DVD and put them on the 1GB memory stick. Works fine and I'm happy with the quality.

What's bad about novelty? Going online with PSP might not feature all the gadgets you have on your PC at home, but it is mobile and unlike a laptop it is rather small.

If you ever get to know someone who has the machine, try all this stuff out. It's really cool, especially when you see it yourself on a PSP in front of you. Online trailers etc. don't do the awesome LCD-display justice.

Yep, That's true. Let's just wait and see. I mean if the X-Box and the games available for it can convince me, I'm going to get this as well.

Can you tell me how good those emulators work, for Xbox!? Are they perfect, or are the games glitchy or whatever!? Also, is the mame-emulator any good, meaning that the streetfighter games are all perfect compared to the arcade versions!?
What are some good mame-titles that will be playable!?

I'm on the verge of ordering a modded xbox (executer 3 chip, 200 gig HD, all the emulators plus games, etc) so I'd really appreciate it...

Just bought a gamecube last weekend btw...
Never intended to buy one, since n64 was a bad joke, and nintendo has a reputation of not having much good 3rd party support, plus they often fuck around with release dates and shit...

But anyway, I bought the damn thing, cause it was on sale (had to get rid of old packages) for 75 euro, and it's the zelda pack, which has always been a game that had my interest. Mainly bought it for my girlfriend, but she didnt take it home yet, so now I started playing on it yesterday (bought a mem card yesterday) and it's a good game (windwaker)

Ow, I also bought Riddick for Xbox... which is also very cool. :)

The emulation for NES and SNES is perfect. N64 games lag a bit at times, but are otherwise quite playable.

I've never tried any of the arcade emulators.

Gamecube's a good console. Be sure to check out Resident Evil 4, Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes and Eternal Darkness - excellent games.
