I just finished my first week at work. The amount of free time I have has drastically reduced, I've never been this busy before. I litteraly work, eat, watch TV and sleep. Repeat cycle.

However I feel I chose the right company. Here are some cool details.

I work 8-5 Monday to Thursday, but 8-1:30 on Friday. It still makes up a 37.5 hour week but my weekends start early.

I have 11 days holidays to use up by December 31st. This of course does not include the further public holidays (that I can take anytime) and weekends. I'm thinking about taking time off in December, I wanna visit China and India but flights are expensive.

From January 05, I get 26 days + 8 days of public holidays + weekends. In the end, it works out to be around 6 weeks worth of holidays including weekends.

I also get free membership to the company's social club (before it cost £20 a year), which includes discount shopping, gym passes, outings etc. There's some cinema night in October.

The perks seem very handsome but were only introduced in July 05. Prior to this, graduates used to only get 20 days holidays and the perks were not so hott.

I'm actually using my degree which is cool, I hope that the knowledge I learned these past five years is gonna stay in my head - I'll need it. I'm also learning a lot more stuff.

so how come when everyone else gets a cold they cough and sniffle for a few days but continue being able to do most of the things they normall do, but me, i woke up on thursday showing no symtoms except a sore throat, i could hardly speak. by the end of the day started getting sniffles.

yesterday throat goes away and gets replaced by proper cold symptoms. fine i think, until about 5pm when my head goes all floaty and I go to lie down.

just under 14 hours later after much feverish disorientation, vomitting, snotting blood, coughing my guts out i regain full conciousness, have just spent an hour cleaning up the mess and am now left with a headache and .... a sore throat again...

why cant i just have normal colds damnit... grrrrr...

Terrible news about the floods in New Orleans. :(
A fucking disgrace that the media over here are focusing mainly on the pockets of lawlessness and seem to use it as a stick to beat America with? :?

A fucking disgrace that things were allowed to get out of hand so quickly more like.
A fucking disgrace that the richest, most powerful nation on the planet took a week to get help to the most needy of its people and start rescuing them.
A fucking disgrace in the whitehouse.

becasue by not providing any evacuation support in the first place they were effectively condemning the people below the poverty line to death or at least have their lives ruined. racist probably isnt fair, its just in this case that the below poverty line occupants were almost exclusively black.

Unless the government really are extremely stupid it means they didnt see a problem with people that were an economic problem for america being killed off (or in fact an advantage in the long term). Its called putting a value on human life. many people believe its abhorrent, many people have no problem with it at all...

I was wondering someone was gonna mention New Orleans.

How does everyone feel about Cuba offering to send doctors and shit? Or about (I think) Afghanistan donating 25.000 for the victims?
I LOVE what Cuba did... at the one hand offering support to all the victims, but at the same time giving a stinging message to the USA goverment to let the whole country know that Cuba isnt as evil as many people think (although I believe there are still many injustices happening there...)

It's very hard seeing the footage of New Orleans on TV. I think the tv shows both veryvery good, sweet people who have really been hurt for life by this, but you also see how humans kan almost lower their morals to animal-like proportions, just for some water or shoes or whatever. It's frightening to see such basic selfishness from what many believe to be a modern, western, CIVILISED country... but I guess in occasions like these some people just lose their humanity or something, justout of fear and sheer determination to survive. Still sad to see though...

According to many many reports, people have been predicting for this kinda thing for a long time, and many people have insisted the goverment to take action before a disaster would happen. I guess Washington didnt think protecting it's own people was more important then going after some evil nutcase with a beard...

So, do we count these deaths up to Mr. Bush, or will we blame Bin Laden for these lives as well, as he apparently eats up all the budget...!?

Do you guys think New Orleans will recover from this. From all the programs I've seen on it so far, it seems most New Orleans residents are pretty lost at this point... and feel betrayed by their own goverment. Will it turn into a ghost-town, with a small section still operating which will live off tourism?
It's one thing to be attacked by an outside evil, and to strike back at them by building it all up again immediately... but it's a whole other thing when you feel betrayed by your own goverment, and you see people from your neighbourhood shooting eachother over peanuts and stuff... how do you build from that?

New orleans will recover and be bigger and better than ever. it wont however be the same character wise, it will just be another big modern american city. this is what happens in a capitalist country.

it does seem however that Bush is totally screwed, especially now he's declared an investigation on what went wrong... headed by himself. he's probably feeling somewhat hard done by right now, you can bet his advisers assured him this could never happen, we know he isnt the brightest bloke in the world, i have no difficulty believing he didnt think this would happen.

personally i feel the most important thing that needs to be looked at from this is mob/looting culture, this idea that as soon as authority falls people can and will go shit crazy... we saw it in bagdad, now in the so called 'civilised' western world.

Have you heard some of Bush's comments after the disaster, like 'this is bad news, yeah ... but look on the bright side... there's also good news ... we're gonna build this town up again bigger and better'
Yeah... those are some really consulting words for the hundreds of thousands who just lost beloved friends and family members, coming from a guy who failed to do his job to protect these people...

Also him mentioning:'no-one could have predicted this' remark, fell wrong with most, since many MANY people had been warning that this WOULD (not could) happen if New Orleans would be hit by a heavy rank 3 or up storm...

Ma Bush; 'Those people who found shelter in the dome are lucky to be taken care of, instead of sitting in their usual shacks...' ... or something along those lines...
Seen the pictures from inside already, Ms. Bush? Heard about the murders? The rapes of young girls? Shootings & robbings?

Nuts.

I was faking acting sober when I arrived home last night (folks were still up). My parents don't know I drink (drinking isn't common amongst Indian families, although the trend is slowly changing).

They didn't question me so I think I got away with it.

Dude, if you type like that when you're drunk, god knows how you talk. I think your parents maybe humouring you....

Dad: "There's that drunken fool of a son of ours home late again!

Mum: "Shhh... you'll hurt his feelings."

I used to try faking it as well. I'm sure they weren't fooled for a second. The worst one was when I'd dropped some acid. I had to act drunk and not tripping my tits off. Tricky.

To all you naive 'Kiddies' out there:

Mr. Brass would like to remind you all that dropping acid is not an appropriate recreational passtime. And if you do so you may have your naked botty relentlessly spanked by one or both of your parents (depending on how dysfunctional your family unit is...)

This has been a public service message brought to you by the anti-drug association of Bulletsville.
