Primeval: Series 2.
Is anyone else watching this?
It's pretty decent. It knows full well it's a silly B-Movie Monster show and never attempts to step above this. It happily fills an hour of my time.
Unlike Torchwood it knows what it is and is the better for it. I missed Series 1.
p.s - Dumb name though.

That was the thing with the blonde girl from S-Club 7? If so, then that was cheap and cheesy rubbish. I couldn't sit through more than one episode.
If you want to watch good satires of B monster movies, then watch Tremors and Lake Placid.

At least they didn't call it PrimEVIL.bradavon wrote:p.s - Dumb name though.

True
Tremors is fantastic. I'll probably pick that up on HD one day, when it's cheap.
Yes that's it. In Series 1 they had her for most of the show half naked due to her flat needing to be really hot. I missed all of Series 1 not knowing about it.
Oh I certainly wouldn't say it's worth downloading but as my PVR catches it and I have to do nothing except watch it I do just that. As it has no delusions of grandeur I don't find myself pressing pause every 10 minutes scratching my head with disbelief (i.e - Torchwood).
I am intrigued to find out who the hidden company are though, so that must say something at least.

The finale of Series 2 was on tonight. I was pleasantly surprised by it. It was pretty damn good.
The characters aren't half as well written as Torchwood but overall it is much better. Neither are what I'd call keepers though. I reckon RTD saves the best material/writers for Doctor Who.
The CGI in Primeval is also very good (it's done by the same crew who did many of those Dinosaur documentaries), considerably better than Torchwood, which is woeful at times and unlike Doctor Who resorts to CGI for all effects than men in suits.

I know you wouldn't understand this Romero but I don't consider film and TV to be the same medium. As a film Primeval would really suck but as "an hour" of Saturday night entertainment, it works for what it sets out to achieve. It's significantly better than Torchwood (I wish that would get cancelled!).
Starship Troopers as a TV show I may not mind, although it does have very dubious morals, something Primeval doesn't.
I never understood the title. A movie could work well, the premise is a good one.
p.s - I only actually watched the second series. I missed series 1 and was always out for series 3. I have read the writing was much stronger, how much is debatable.

I didn't know it existed until series 2, possibly a shame as the blonde lass walked around in pants for most of it. Besides it's hardly a series you need to see all of it, although it did carry on, so parts didn't make much sense. At the end of the day it's B-Movie dumb fun.
Why watch an entire series you think is shit? Go read a book
