You obviously watch very different films and TV than anyone else if you think thatbradavon wrote:There's no way Basic Instinct 2 was going to be harder. Times have changed, we live in a 12A rating world now.
Even TV shows have more and harder sex in them than Basic Instict had, but again shows you what you are missing not watching all the superb TV shows, instead watching the shit that comes from the UK.

First time I saw The Usual Suspects I thought "wow... that was clever".
Last time I watched it I was underwhelmed. I knew the twist and started looking for other things to enjoy and realised that the whole movie was pretty much about the twist.
Maybe I'm being harsh... maybe I wasn't in the right mood?

Terminator Salvation. A healthy 4/5
Tepid start, soon warms up and continues to build to oh my god it's brilliant/classic, cools down to ok ending.
For me that was reminiscent of Dark Knight; impressive but lacking weight towards the end. However the film is mightily produced, satisfyingly moody, and above all, a decent bit of dystopian Sci-Fi. It's bleak, but lacking the humanity and gutsy character of T2 (the yardstick for all good action movies).
In short, well worth seeing, way better than Star Trek, and certainly pips Watchman. No doubt it'll be one of the best actions movie of the year and not a shamefull followup/partner to the first two.

not really, but when a film sinks as quickly as this at the box office it's often due to bad word of mouth, which is a worry.bradavon wrote:Does anyone really pay any attention to how much a film has made? I'm just wondering, I don't.
easily the least of the series for me, a revenge thriller masquerading as a super hero flick.didn't think the effects were up to much either, they looked rushed.bradavon wrote:I thought X-men 4 was good, easily better than Part 3 and that got panned. I should be finding out tonight.

I saw it 2 times so far, no idea what people are on about with the effects, looked perfect to me, even that bathroom scene. There must be different prints going around I say, I saw it digitally on an amazing screen, flawless transfer, that may have something to do with the SFX problems for others, shit prints in other cinemas, or settings wrong as most analogue prints are.
The film fucking rocked for me, pissed all over shitty 3 and even part 1 for me.

Thats the thing it was not dodgy at all when I saw it.
I am picky as hell and what I saw and my frinds saw was quality, they all said the same as me, so its odd to see people saying certain parts were shitty, when we all saw it and never saw them dodgy effects. Odd thats for sure.
Or maybe I am getting old and my eyes are playing up and its spread to my friends as well

The Wrestler 3/5
Mickey Rourke gives a truly towering performance as washed up grappler Ram Jam, now reduced to working at a deli store and working wrestling shows in clapped out gyms at weekends.Marisa Tomei is a stripper/lap dancer he carries a torch for. Despite Rourke's performance the film itself is nothing we haven't seen before and follows a fairly predictable path.Tomei is a fantastic actress but utterly gorgeous,so much so i found it hard to believe she'd be reduced to being a cheap stripper.film is worth seeing though.
Casino Royale 3.5/5
2nd time i've seen this, liked it much better this time around,Craig makes an excellent Bond and the fil is a successful reboot of the franchise.some excellent action sequences, however i found the villain a little weak and the movie could definitely have lost 20 minutes from the drawn out poker sequence i also thought it stretched a little credibility when Bond, minutes after surviving a near fatal poisoning could return to the poker table as if nothing had happened.

Mirrors 2/5
Mediocre horror starring Kiefer Sutherland as a suspended cop who takes a night watchman job at a burnt out department store.immediately strange things involving mirrors start happening... Sutherland is excellent in 24 but to me he doesn't have the presence to carry off a leading man role in a big movie.
Da Vinci Code extended 2.5/5
Hokey and overlong thriller starring Tom Hanks as Symbologist Langton who gets caught up in a huge church conspiracy. it's not a very good movie but it's strangely watchable throughout.
Bronson 2/5
i heard good things about this british biopic of the uk's longest serving prisoner Charlie Bronson but i found it disappointing.Tom Hardy plays the title role well but i got bored of Bronson's constant rages into violence
