Export version? I thought Tai Chi Master was the Dimension cut? What's this export version?

although it doesn't explain 'My Father Is A Hero's lack of Cantonese

It seems to be the export version (made around 1993).

However, instead of using that dub, the Dimension one is inserted in place with patches from the 1993 dub to fill in the gaps. Not a good idea with different music, sound effects and voices.

Wait for the Austrian M.I.B DVD to be available online to order, it's better.

I'm happy with the HK DVD Se of Where is my Father. Most Mainland European DVDs cost a bomb. Thanks though.

Before Dimension acquired the rights to 'Tai Chi Master' and produced their edit, Eastern Films commissioned a version for export use - likely with the same score, length and sound effects as the HK version, but with an English dub. The Indian Diskovery VCD has it with a title of 'Twice Deadly'.

The Austrian DVD contains a deleted scene, newly translated and remastered subtitles (also for the trailer), genuine mono (Mei Ah is a downmix and very slightly censored) and progressive video.

Is this the good German/Austrian DVD of Fist of Legend I should buy instead of the DD?
Strangely the Amazon trailer is in French.

This image and the August 18th date are on DVD Aficianado. A Shaws release (or two... or four) would be refreshing after the multiple botched Dimension "hand me down" releases. Bey Logan mentioned in passing that Return to the 36th Chamber would be coming soon as well, but I dunno if it'll be this year.

Grim,if you get that Fist Of Legend dvd get it from amazon.de marketplace seller dvd-house,it's half the price. i got OUATICA&A from them and it arrived in days.

I usually don't like DD artwork, but I think that Venoms cover is actually good!

The 'Five Venoms' title would have been nice, but certain audiences refer to the film with it's US 'Five Deadly Venoms' title.

True... maybe "King Boxer" didn't hit the numbers they expected with the smaller "AKA Five Fingers of Death" text on the cover, so they just stuck with the US title on the cover. Also, since it's only different by one word, I guess they figured might as well stick with the US title. Would've looked funny if it said "FIVE [DEADLY] VENOMS"

As long as the print itself still says Five Venoms, we're good. Wonder if we're getting another Shaw release around then, or if it'll be Dragon Dynasty's first solo Shaws release.

What's the deal with the German Fist of Legend DVD!? Is it the same version as the DDversion, or does it have the missing scenes in it!?

The Venoms cover looks OK. I would have done it SLIGHTLY different (The Celestial Pictures bar seems a bit out of place where it is, with Dragon Dynasty title right above it, and the two logos right underneath eachother).
The title and the heads aren't parallel to eachother (On the left the letters are at the height of the first guy's throat, and on the right it's over the last guy's chin...)

I already have the movie and although I thought the story was pretty original (for a KF flick) and somewhat interesting, I felt the martial arts choreography was poor.

German FOL must be a port of the French video (aside from ending text not being there, it's otherwise the HK version), don't know about the audio.

It's an alright (not excellent) anamorphic print.

TCM has similar problems.

The french DVD is the uncut version IF you watch in Cantonese. So the German/Austrian should be uncut too.
