Just for my own interests I'm wanting to compile a list of all the Asian films that have been remade of late. I can remember some, but need some help to get more.
The ones I can remember are:
Ring - The Ring (Was The Ring 2 a remake or its own film?)
Ju-On - The Grudge (likewise with The Grudge 2)
Il Mare - The Lake House
Infernal Affairs - The Departed
The Eye - The Eye
Dark Water - Dark Water
My Sassy Girl - My Sassy Girl
Can't think of others just now, so any help in getting more would be appreciated.
Thanks.

I'm pretty sure The Ring 2 (Japanese) was its own film.
Also don't forget: One Missed Call - One Missed Call

The Ring 2 is definitely not a remake. The story is completely different and superior.

A tale of 2 sisters-The Uninvited
Into the mirror-Mirrors (by Alexandre "The hills have eyes" Aja, with Kiefer Sutherland)
Bangkok Dangerous-Bangkok Dangerous (by the Pang Brothers with Nicholas Cage)
Kairo-Pulse
I'm sure there are more but that's all I can think of from the top of my head

Whatever happened to the "Bangkok Dangerous" remake? Did it even get a UK release?

Cheers for those links and info...
I had no idea A Tale Of Two Sisters was being remade... one of my all time fave films, they'd better do a good job!!

5 September according to imdb
A tale of two sisters was supposed to get a UK release in May/June but never came out. According to imdb, its new UK release date is 29 May 2009!...

Thanks Frimann. I'll wait for reviews. I've not seen my "original" DVD yet.

Watched this today, pretty good and a fair bit better than the original. The opening scene is aces!!

Cool.
I read a review saying the film was quite bad after the first 20 minutes... but the trailer looks good to me and I wanna see it anyways

It doesn't look too bad but why change it so he's not blind? That's crucial to the original. I think, I've not seen it.

No, not really. It's like saying things are going to go to shit in "The Day after tomorrow". It's a basic part of the plot, that's all.

I haven't seen Bangkok Dangerous, but IIRC the character is supposed to be A MUTE, NOT BLIND.

Will Smith is a good actor, and they already made an Indian remake of Oldboy. I can't see a Hollywood one working as well as it may be toned down.
