If you had to choice which would you watch Romero, out of the 3 cuts?

You're probably going to say you couldn't but I'm guessing you'll end up watching one version more than the others.

Change the record Yi-Long.

I happen to agree but we've been down this road many times before. Yes PA should've included another soundtrack and it's a crime they didn't but as they didn't it's now very much a moot point. PA aren't going to listen.

Besides for me anyway it's me who decides. I'll sample both (in this case the DC and PAC) and whichever I prefer I'll keep. If the PAC improves the film then IMO I'd be dumb to stick with the DC just because it's the DC. There are many cases where you just can't go by reviews or screenshots. You need to see it for yourself on your own setup.

Romero seems to prefer the altered PA score for Ong Bak. :)

Honestly I wouldnt watch the French cut, as its cut, so that leaves the R4 Thai and PA version and the PA version looked better in the cinema and sound effects stood out and were not crap like the R4 Thai version which has ruined the film for me with crap effects!

So for me I will say the PA version wins so far, just hope the dvd has sound effetcs which sound like people fighting, not playing. Its quite amazing how bad sound effects can gut a films fights.

Yeah ur right...

I'm actually also kinda fucked up with all the people going on and on about the problems of Aids, poverty, child-abuse, Iraq, hatred against minorities, etc etc. I wish they'd shut up about it from now on, cause honestly, it's just the way it is... too bad and all, but pfff, it's such a bore to keep hearing it over and over again.

Guess I'll be ordering that terrific PA release now, rewarding them for doing such a great job on replacing a perfect soundtrack...

After that I'll write a letter to George Dubya on doing such a fine job, telling him I hope all those moaning bitches will get off hisback, and transfer some cash into the republican account so they can keep doing their thing...

... and after that, I'll give my neighbours pitbull a sharp kick between his legs, while being naked apart from a sausage I have tied to my testicles...

Listen man, when I complain about these things, I'm not saying anyone else shouldnt buy it, I'm just saying that for me personally it's a waste. Hopefully, in a few years there WILL be a release that has the original everything, and I will be buying THAT one. I'm not like you, buying multiple versions of the same movie, so for me, releases like this are a major dissapointment. Plus, I wouldnt give a shit about them adding a new soundtrack if the original version would just be widely available, so we at least have a choice...

Yeah it's the same old moaning over and over and over again, and I dont like it either, but it's still a big, serious issue and it's an issue that would have been so obviously easy to correct, if these companies would give a shit... (which they don't)

I might buy the PA release in a year orso, if it's on sale somewhere, just for the extra's... (but perhaps the dutch release will be better, so I'll first wait for that one...)

Just back from BKK last week. Saw Tom Yum Goong and thought it was excellent. Very commercial with lots of great over the top set pieces and lots of bone crunching breaks of arms, legs and necks. Can't wait for the DVD

Huh? An "original everything" release is already here, the R4 Eastern Eye release.

Yeah but Yi-Long will complain as it also has the International Cut  .

Just wait until HD-DVD comes out I can see many people moan how crap ALL their beloved DVDs look.
romerojpg wrote:Honestly I wouldnt watch the French cut, as its cut, so that leaves the R4 Thai and PA version
Sorry but this makes no sense (to me anyway). You'll watch a film with a new/altered score but not if it's cut by 1 second?

I'd be surprised if it doesn't. PA are simply better at authoring DVDs.

p.s - I can't believe Yi-Long is comparing aids, poverty, child abuse, Iraq, hatred against minorities to a freakin' cut movie. Yeah Ong-bak being altered is as BAD as those things!

Thanks again Brad, for not understanding sarcasm. (!)

Or are you deliberately trying to misunderstand each and every post I make!?

PS: I haven't bitched about the R4, have I!? I'm just waiting for a few reviews seeing how well the picture quality is since (I think) they crammed 2 whole versions on 1 disc...

IMHO: The picture is softer but the colors are better and warmer.
Also, the R4 Thai cut doesn't feature the extensive "edge-enhancement from Hell" that is present in the R4 Int cut.

If I had liked the movie, I would've gone for the R4.

I already posted that keep up :D

What are you basing this opinion on? That link doesn't feature the R4 or UK R2 for that matter.

Ah Yes but when you posted it, it didn't have the R4. It was a French-Thai-German comparison, right ? :?

Are you blind or something ?

The Besson cut is probably due to contractual obligations with EuropaCorp.

I would've released a 3 disc set, giving the both cuts of the film room to breathe and to have the opportunity to have DTS. Someone like Anchor Bay US would've done that.

So would Anchor Bay UK.

Personally they should have faith in their product. I'm 100% sure the original Thai director's cut would still have been a big hit. This is a film where there is really no point in the Luc Besson Cut.

BTW the R4 reversible cover is the same as the French one. It's so much better, just ask Romero.
Tom2681 wrote:Are you blind or something?
Nope but I'm not a mind reader either. You should've said to "refresh" the page.

Thanks btw. I'll get looking.

I don't normally notice edge enhancement (& may not in a real world test) but here I have to agree the International Luc Besson Cut looks a mess.

I wonder why the two cuts have such a different colour scheme.

Whydoes it make no sense! its not been cut by 1 second! its minutes shorter.

A new altered score is fine, it doesnt hurt the film at all, cuts do if they are bad ones. :?

Not wanting to pointlessly argue forever Yi-long but I'm not a mind reader. I didn't know you were being sarcastic until you pointed out the fact.

I can't see your facial expressions nor did you use smilies so how am I supposed to know? Besides it was a sick joke.

Ah but aren't you one of the people who avoided Face/Off and True Lies UK R2? Both of which are cut by seconds.

Nope :) I have Fce Off UK but dont care about them cuts at all.

True Lies on the other hand I have avoided as the cut footage I want to see.

It depends on whats cut, not how much.

No it ain't.
The first R2 UK release was uncut (the distributor made a mistake). It was then replaced by a cut version.

Speaking off Face/Off, I remember thedigitalbits.com had on their rumour page a few months back that Paramount were going to be releasing an SE. Nothing's materialised yet. I don't give a shit about extras as far as Face/Off is concerned (I can imagine how boring it be to listen to a solo commentary track with John Woo mumbling in his poor English about his dove symbolisms and his homoerotic/brotherhood themes that I've read a million times before), I only want a DTS track accompanying a good transfer.
