Strawberry on the Shortcake is the latest J-Drama I have seen and has an excellent cast:

The lovely Kyoko Fukada and Yôsuke Kubozuka (Go, GTO, Ping Pong, Laundry).

It's a very complex love triangle... actually make that love rectangle... nah more like a love pentagon... very complicated. It's like a high school drama about a kid who has a crush on his step sister but lacks the guts to admit it.

It's all about finding the true person within you, instead of relying on a fake persona just to put on a brave face.

The ending = OMG!!!

The series consists of 10 eps, all around 45 mins each.

Edit: How come the Japanese are so good at uprooting so much emotion from the viewer that it would make rewatching the series unbareable (because of the emotion overdose)?

Woops forgot to add obvious trivia:

The show's theme is S.O.S. by ABBA... which are also the initials for the title - Strawberry on the Shortcake.

The title's well inetersting because yeah, most of the characters cry for help.

So Bisc, since you've been living, eating, sleeping J-Drama of late have you actually come accross any that are really crap (as in just crap, not good crap)??

Nope, so far I have seen:

GTO
Summer Snow
Otosan: Life with Dad
Strawberry on the Shortcake

All have been amazing. Just the storylines are really imaginative, with plenty of humour and melodrama. Plus they give a good insight into Japanese lifestyle. Very awesome!

are they all pretty much the same though, like soaps over here?? I mean whilst we might get the affair, crime, sexuality, teen angst story lines popping up at different time essentially all the long running british soaps are the same, true also of the J-Dramas or do they try and give each one something new and original to the others??
