Will Dragon Dynasty release "Blood Brothers" (1973)?

Post by grim_tales »

Hey,
I was looking at one of the DD Shaw Bros. DVDs the other day, and noticed it had a trailer for Blood Brothers. It was anamorphic (?) and in Mandarin with subtitles. I'm wondering if there's a better release around than the letterboxed IVL release.

And the DD thread suddenly isn't good enough for you? ;).

I believe the German MIB DVD is anamorphic genuine PAL and mono with English subtitles.

Despite the bad PAL>NTSC conversion, non-anamorphic and 5.1 remix, the IVL has extras.

Dragon Dynasty have the rights, so they may decide to improve the subtitles and combine the extras and include more.

I wonder if Celestial restored this twice - the 1st time non-anamorphic without frame-cuts and a 2nd time anamorphic with a less-cropped image that might be considered better quality too (levels, etc), but frame-cut (and other little snippets missing throughout due to laziness in restoration).

Oops, sorry Brad :)
Does the German DVD have frame cuts or is it uncut?

Asking Spannick (on the other forums) would be the best bet to know for sure as he's the authority on Celestial cuts :).

DTM should have it. Maybe Amazon.de?

What other forums do you mean? :)

I looked and Amazon.de don't have it. Is DTM - www.dtm.de or something?

Found it:

The DVD is advertised as "Uncut Version" or something (it says it on the front).

If its an FSK-18 then German e-tailers can't stock it.

A stupid, stupid rule. :x

I thought it said FSK-16 (not sure?)
Maybe Austrian e-tailers can if it is FSK-18.

It's illegal for German etailers to sell FSK-18 titles.

FSK-16 or under is fine.

I don't know what rating TBB is.

Yeah, Mark could get more DVDs if he was interested, to justify the shipping.

Charmes.de sold or used to sell FSK-18 titles. I don't believe it's outright illegal, just that Amazon and the like won't touch it.

How can they sell them, if they're outright illegal?

Amazon does sell FSK-18 titles, but the postman will hand them to you only personally. If you're not at home, you can still get them at your local post-office.

With other shops like Charmes, who deal with imported goods, you'll have to verify your age once, for example by sending them a copy of some offical id. A lot of shops, like Online-Video-Rentals, offer Post-Ident-Procedure through your local Post-Office. After that receiving FSK-18 titles is no problem.

Only on Ebay.de you won't find any FSK-18 items, but in that case there are other auction-websites as well.

I do wonder why stores bother asking your DOB, except in your case they never bother to confirm it.

I find the whole German etailer situation confusing so no wonder I'm talking more shit than usual.... I just thought they weren't allowed to ship FSK-18 titles from Germany... So they can IF you verify your age? Well, if you've got a credit card I would've though that was a fucking good start. How many kids have those?

Only title I'd buy from DTM is EASTERN CONDORS

€14,99 (item) = £13.46
€8.00 (shipping) = £7.19
€22,99 (total) = £20.65

Steep, baby!
