What do you mean with 'I obeserve this holiday'?
It's Good Friday, right!? What do we celebrate on this day again!?
Anyway, I'm not religious in any way, and I eat what I want, when I want it, so no, I didn't refrain from eating meat today. I just had dinner with cheap steak.

I didn't even know you're not supposed to eat meat today.
I'm not eating much meat today, mostly because my fridge is empty... I was supposed to go visit my parents today, but I missed the train, and shops are all closed, so I'm left with fish, french fries, and noodles. Just cooked some (poor man's) ramen for myself. There's a tiny bit of meat there.

Maybe that's why. I didn't know you were Roman Catholic. I would guess most on this forum are either atheist or agnostic (like me).
Interesting links, thanks. So you give up meat as back when the tradition started meat was a luxury. Wouldn't wine be more appropriate? Not wanting to dis. the tradition.
I adhere to being with my family over Christmas but I think that's the only tradition I follow.

I was baptized and all that crap, so technically I'm roman-catholic, but obviously that was done TO me, and not with my concent or whatever...
I don't consider myself catholic, or christian, or religious in any other way, shape or form.
How other people deal with their religion and those beliefs and traditions, that's obviously completely up to them.

It means, or better said, it CAN mean, that the body and soul can be seperated at times, in cases of stress or pain or whatever. Nowhere does it in any way insinuate there might be a 'God', or a 'heaven', or 'hell', or whatever.saltysam wrote:What about your out of the body experince the other week? didn't that make you think there might be something out thereYi-Long wrote:I was baptized and all that crap, so technically I'm roman-catholic, but obviously that was done TO me, and not with my concent or whatever...

It MIGHT... but I personally don't believe there is (or ever was) a God.

I wouldn't say it technically makes you anything. My parents baptised me too but they were more religous back then. They're not anymore.Yi-Long wrote:I was baptized and all that crap, so technically I'm roman-catholic, but obviously that was done TO me, and not with my concent or whatever...
I don't believe in a god in the usual sense of the word but cannot believe "we're it" either. The universe is just too big for that. I also don't believe we're intelligent enough to be able to say for certain that there is a god either way. It's just that I don't believe in a formalised one.
Do shops in Finland shut on bank holidays/sundays? They've not here for years, thankfully.HungFist wrote:I was supposed to go visit my parents today, but I missed the train, and shops are all closed

My personal belief is that God is the infinite consciousness/creativity/awareness/energy from which everything has come from, and that the big game of life is for us all to return to the source. So basically, a 'game' was created in order to experience as much as possible from as many different angles as possible.Yi-Long wrote:It MIGHT... but I personally don't believe there is (or ever was) a God.

Yeah, I was christened but only as a tradition, neither of my parents are remotely religious. You choose your own religion, being baptised doesn't make you part of any.bradavon wrote:I wouldn't say it technically makes you anything. My parents baptised me too
Haha, good for you maybe! Bad for us lot who work in retail!bradavon wrote:Do shops in Finland shut on bank holidays/sundays? They've not here for years, thankfully.

I do believe intelligent life exists on other planets, simply because there are millions of planets that have all the elements needed for 'life'.
I just don't believe that there is a 'God' that 'created' any of this.
There are many MANY things we don't know. Some people choose to make stuff up and believe that they do know, and other people will just admit:' I don't know and we might never know... (and that's OK)'.

Yes, it's in the legislation. Only small grocery stores are allowed operate on sundays. But today everything is closed.bradavon wrote:Do shops in Finland shut on bank holidays/sundays? There's some exceptions though. For example before christmas all stores are open on sundays.
