Do you have any phobias/fears?
Anyone admit to anything? I'm terrified of lifts, have a phobia it's going to get stuck with me in it
When i was really ill recently and went to see the company doctor i struggled up 5 floors rather than get the lift such is my fear! i suppose i'm partly claustrophobic yet i don't mind planes, etc. when we go on holiday i always request a low floor if possible to avoid the lift...i have other fears as well,i worry far too much about things and often think the worst. i envy people who whizz through life without a care in the world!

I don't really have phobias. I remember being afraid of heights when I was a kid and had to climb ropes, but now I LOVE heights. I LOVEEEE HEIGHTS!!!
I like going in high things, or going into/onto high buildings and looking straight down, ortaking the cable-car on Lantau Island, etc etc.
Other than that, I can't really think of any phobias. I'm not scared of small dark spaces, I'm not scared of flying (love it, couldnt be more relaxed, even when there's turbulance..), I'm not scared of rollercoasters, etc etc etc.
Wait... I'm afraid of getting a pet, cause I fear Ill get attached to it too much and having too much pain when I would lose it. Does that count!? Not REALLY a phobia, is it!?
I don't know. I've had some close encounters with death, and I've been depressed/had depressions etc, and tbh I don't really fear much stuff anymore. It's like I'm a different person from the kid I was before all that.
I remember being scared of being beaten up, or being afraid of getting bad grades or being afraid of people not liking me or whatever. I stopped giving a shit about all that. And I quite like that.

I'm scared of SPIDERS!!!
Once on holiday in Portugal, my sister and I got in the clunky old lift at the hotel, and I pressed the basement button on it out of curiosity, when we got down to the bottom, it made a loud noise and the lights turned off and it was totally pitch black! The door didn't even open! My sister started panicking and I just mashed the buttons with my hand, and luckily the lift started going back up again lol. So for you, that would be a total nightmaresaltysam wrote:Anyone admit to anything? Nah that's definitely not a phobia, lol.Yi-Long wrote:Wait... I'm afraid of getting a pet, cause I fear Ill get attached to it too much and having too much pain when I would lose it. Does that count!? Not REALLY a phobia, is it!?

No phobias, fears of course, who doesn't? Just the usual stuff, like extreme heights but not enough to put me off doing something.
I don't understand people's fear of snakes, spiders, wasps or bees. The amount of people who go insane when a bee or a wasp flies by when frankly it's more scarred or you than you are of it. Ignore it and it will quickly fly away.
Spiders too (at least in the UK) are so small and harmless. Sure a trianchela is different we're not going to be seeing one of those here.

I Think i have a general fear of being trapped somewhere.I think it stems from a childhood incident where some of us came across some handcuffs,i stupidly volunteered to be the prisoner,i was handcuffed to a lamp post where they left me for a while, some scallies passed by,one threw a bottle at me and cut my wrist,i was crying heavily and my mates took a good while to realise i wasn't bluffing,i needed releasing ASAP.

I'd say it's irrational to think you might fall when statistically you probably won't.
What scares you though? There must be a specific reason.gasteropod wrote:Well the whole point of a phobia is that it's an irrational fear, I'm not scared of spiders because I think they're going to hurt me, I just am.

I do hate spiders and otehr small fast creatures IN VIDEOGAMES btw...
I remember faling in the water in Quake 2 or something, and screaming cause suddenly there was a piranha right in front of my face. I also hated the jumpy jumpy spiders in Tomb Raider 2, and the Creed or whatever it's called in Halo.
I HATE jumpy fast small creatures in videogames (3d).
