Inglourious Basterds

For once a remake that doesn't seem to be a remake at all:

Maestro Castellari will have a cameo, btw.

HAHA, Eli Roth in an acting role (you can see him as Brad Pitt's 2nd in command in the trailer). Let's hope that he makes a better thespian than he does a film director.

I saw Hostel 2 recently and it was one the worst films that I've seen in a long time. He has absolutely zero talent for filmmaking.

Also, Ryan from The Office (BJ Novak)? Ugh, he's an abysmal actor.

What a barmy looking movie. I take it, it's tongue and cheek. I cannot say I'm too excited about this.

There was a time when I would've watched pretty much anything QT but that was when he was riding high with Reservoir Dogs and Pup Fiction. Sure I like Kill Bill: Vol. 1 and Death Proof but frankly QT has lost the plot, he's not made a truly great film since Jackie Brown back in 1997.

I cannot get that link to work (or rather the trailers in it). Here they are from Dave's Trailer page:

* HD 480P (35.9Mb) - http://playlist.yahoo.com/makeplaylist. ... =web&pt=rd
* HD 720P (83.2Mb) - http://playlist.yahoo.com/makeplaylist. ... =web&pt=rd
* HD 1080P (120Mb) - http://playlist.yahoo.com/makeplaylist. ... =web&pt=rd

DTP calls them a teaser, presumabely it's the same trailer.

You just listed pretty much all of his films there ;)

I actually rate all his films the same, with Dogs being that bit better at 5/5.

Doesn't look much from the trailer but will 100% be worth a trip 'outside' to the cinema :)

No need with Dave's Trailer's page.

City on Fire was much better than Reservoir Dogs.

City on Fire isn't anywhere near as good as Dogs. It's a good film, yes, but it also suffers from some poor acting and occasional clumsy execution that lessens its impact. Dogs is better acted, better written, technically better, much more cleaver...

And Tarantino copying CoF is bullshit. Tarantino re-used the last 15 minutes of CoF. Almost none of Dogs's strengths originate from CoF.

Tarantino ranking:
Pulp Fiction - 5/5
Kill Bill Vol. 1 - 5/5
Kill Bill Vol. 2 - 5/5
Jackie Brown - 5/5
Reservoir Dogs - 4.5/5
Death Proof - 4.5/5

I do too.

Excellent story acting. Top class filmmaking - 4.5/5

Dogs is his masterpiece though, the full 5/5 and up there with the best.

Even if you don't rate them in that order, they're all on contemporary cinemas highest rungs.

Yes. Yes.

Death Proof is probably the best American movie from the last 4 or 5 years.

No, that place is reserved for The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou, or Sin City (ducks head). :)

I'd certainly put Death Proof in my top 10 though. ;)
