Are you saying Romero you have a big collection of shit dvds you keep solely because you'll lose money if you sell them

as you are always saying you wait till you get dvds really cheap can't see how you are losing much by getting rid?even if you lost £3 you could consider that a rental fee surely?

I usually try giving them away. I dont buy that many shite DVD's, but occasionally something surprised you as to how bad it really is. Dragon from Russia springs to mind, which many seem to 'like', yet I thought it was almost completely unwatchable.

Replace the word with "okay" or "average" and his meaning makes a lot more sense. As in, for the money I paid I'm happy I bought it but if I paid a lot I'd be pissed. Remember everything is shit or a masterpiece in Romero's world

If it wasn't for the fact that I don't like not finishing films I would have switched this off... crap crap crap. So many cheesy lines, cliched phrases are used in this film... in fact the whole film is pretty much one big cheesy cliche. The way the leads behave, the tough guy attitude they have... and then the whiney female whose life is saved then continues to moan and belittle the efforts of the people protecting her.

The fights ain't that great either. In one scene the main guy fights 6 guys with guns, while he is unarmed. So while he is beating up some of them, the others just stand and watch...

Don't bother with this one.

Nope not at all, if its really crap or I hate it I get rid of it instantly no matter what price it is. If I can and that is the problem, you cannot shift many films even for joke low prices.

Some poor films have good bits in them still, so worth keeping, or as I said extras that make the disc worth keeping.

For instance Day of the Dead 2, I watched recently, hated it like a red headed step child, but honestly there is no way in hell I will ever sell that piece of total shit as no one wants it, even the extras made me want to kill the makers of that turd.

And no I will never throw them away, someone will buy it in the end, I have sold massive amounts over the last 10+ years, so in the end someone wants it.

If I cannot shift it for £1-2 I give it to my Dad's girlfriend, who gives it to a charity shop. There's now way I'm keeping films I hate. I'd rather give them away. They just take up clutter.

Romero means in the end, as in years. Not my bag.

I can't be bothered selling DVDs. It's all small change, and by just giving it away it's a whole lot less effort plus you might make some poor sap happy, if only because of the 'gesture' (cause some people like it when you let them take your crap of your hands...).

I still have Superman Returns btw...
Maybe I should save that for when I ever visit the USA, so I'll have something to throw into Bryan Singer's face. What a fucking piece of shit movie that was.

I've made hundreds selling DVDs. I can be bothered.

You need to sell loads though but it's well worth the time and effort. eBay is your friend. I tend to do it a couple of times a year (sell on eBay), batching them up. I give them away too, if they don't sell but I'm not about to give away hundreds of DVDs. That's stupid.

p.s - Superman Returns is decent, easily better than Spidey 1 and 2.

Maybe in a few years when I've updated al the classics with BR's, I can imagine myself selling a bunch, but only if it would be really worth it.

I think I've made 100€ already this year by selling old dvds. It doesn't have anything to do with buying shitty films, but retaining quality standards. If you want to see interesting movies and you're not a sheep, of course you end up with loads of movies that aren't necessary to keep. I buy dvds because I want to see those movies. Whether I will keep the dvd, that I will decide after I've seen the movie.

SHOOT 'EM UP 1.5/5

Presumably intended as a parody of action movies, but there's a fine line between parody and just plain bad. Frantic, relentlessly violent action-comedy has an awful script, an absurd plot, and a mind-numbing nihilism that leaves a sour aftertaste. Clive Owen fits the mould of brooding action icon but his acting is as wooden as usual. By the time it was over I felt like I'd been smacked in the face repeatedly with a hammer. Not an experience I intend to repeat.

Odd aint it. I thought it was only OK when I saw it in the cinema (at least it was loud and stopped me falling asleep), the action just did not work for me.

But I got it on BR and Loved it!

very odd I changed my mind so much on a second viewing.

Just goes to show you give some films a second chance and you like them sometimes (I did the same with Evil Dead). Mind you films you are no fan of rarley even get a second chamce I find, like Speed Racer

no way I will watch that again, unless I have to watch it with someone else

Disappointingly dull sixties thriller stars Lee Marvin. Notoriously violent in its day, seems tame now and there's a dated vibe film can't shake off. Direction is also pretentious in a way the simple material doesn't warrant. Frankly I much preferred the remake - Payback.
