Allegedly but since most of the sequels were the same as the original I don't see much difference.

The original films were absolutely dreadful. Unlike other classics of the genre, Friday the 13th has always been a colossal piece of shit. This time the remake might actually surpass the original.

The Texas Chainsaw remake was OK.

There was no Hockey Masked Jason in parts 1 and 2, so no its not a remake at all. Its just part 11.

No Jason in part 1 at all (apart from a kid in a few bits), and even part 2 has no real Jason yet as we know him now (nor does 5 which again has no real Jason at all).
Jason with a Hockey Mask did not pop up until part 3 in the form we know and love.
