For Fallen Angels? Very similar, but the R3 has almost no damage, flecks, etc and a 5.1 remix (likely director approved).

Too bad the Happy Together wont have the Bueno Aeros(sp?) documentairy included, but as long as the video and sound is OK, it will still be a must-buy for many who love the movie.

Did you miss the word "Kino have added" ;). I was specifically mentioning only what's changed. Sorry for the confusion though.

All the content for Fallen Angels and Happy Together that is on the old SEs is on the new ones.

I'm sure I read they were director approved. They're certainly very tastefully done.

I thought I also read the R3 SEs beat the R4.

I saw that was coming soon. It's the UK BDs for me, unless Criterion's Chungking Express is much better.

I pre-ordered it yesterday and it's released today, with any luck I'll have it Friday. As far as I'm concerned it will at last be actually watchable, regardless of being a different cut.

My UK Chungking Express BD arrived today, unfortunately it's the 1.78:1 version, but it looks good anyway. I've just done a comparison with the US one on DVD Beaver, and the UK one is greener, but that could be to do with how my screens are set up.

It could be intentional, if it's director approved. Weird it's 1.78:1, the R1 is too. My Ashes of Time: Redux UK BD has despatched.

What extras does it have? What's the audio? Thanks.

Why is it weird? Some releases are the director-approved 1.66:1, but others are simply 1.78:1 to fill the screen. I presume this isn't a director-approved master, because the US BD is, and as I say they look different (and are different ratios).

The audio is DD 5.1 and DTS HD Master Audio.

Extras:
Introduction by Quentin Tarantino
Interview with Wong Kar-wai
Christopher Doyle on the locations of Chungking Express
Theatrical Trailer

Did anyone notice the end credits of Chungking Express on the Korean remaster are different from say, the version that was shown on C4? The credits scroll up the screen on the KR remaster, on other versions theyre different.

The DVD is 1.66:1. I don't know if a new DVD is coming with the BD too.

EDIT: The original DVD was 1.66:1, the replacement isn't.

Thanks for the info on the BD. The Criterion has better extras and is also 1.66:1. Audio looks to be the same. I'll wait to see a screen capture comparison, just in case the Criterion is much better but will probably pick up the UK BD. Given that it's much less.

I've just watched it and the credits on the UK BD scroll up and are on a white background.

I just noticed that on the disc it says 'Chunking Express'

P.S. there are also filmographies/bios on the disc for Wong Kar-wai and Christopher Doyle.

On the Korean DVD (and I guess on the UK BD Gastero mentioned) the credits scroll up the screen on a white background. On the old/new UK discs and the Rolling Thunder R1, the credits just appeared/disappeared one by one (same background). No scrolling.
Thats what I meant Brad :)

Yeah the languages are spoken interchangeably apparently.

Yep. In the redux version, the cantonese-speaking cast is speaking cantonese and the mandarin-speaking cast is speaking mandarin.

Brigitte Lin's schizophrenic character sounds a lot better in her native mandarin IMO.
That's the only good thing I can say about Redux.
I used to be "the man who loves the movies you hate".
Now I'm just "that weird french guy with a cat avatar who comes to BnB once a year for no reason and then disappears again".

Yeah that's what I meant. I put that in case someone thought there was two DD5.1/DTS-HD MA soundtracks.
