Watched "Electric Dragon 80000 V" already, quite surreal and bizarre with deadpan humor. All those random screeches and shrill riffs (a guitar being raped?) got a litttle bit on my nerves, though, nevertheless I still sort of liked the concept as a whole because it wasn't too long.

I do remeber when the HK dvd of Wet Hot Sake was released. The title gave me a few good laughs, but I doubted the film would do the same, and didn't proceed.
Obayashi's Abe Sada is... uhm... different from all the other versions I've seen (Teruo Ishii's, which is ok, Noboru Tanaka's, which sucks and not in a good way, and Nagisha Oshima's, which I recall being somewhat good). It's an extremely visual film. Unfortunately I can't say if it's good or bad since it's been so long since I saw it.

I firmly have to disagree. Tanaka's version is a damn fascinating experience, edgy and beautifully filmed. Got the german DVD from Rapid Eye Movies. But then again I also managed to find some value in Konuma's "Wife to be sacrificed".HungFist wrote:Obayashi's Abe Sada is... uhm... different from all the other versions [...] Noboru Tanaka's, which sucks and not in a good way.
