Rarely go to the cinema except for an event: James Bond, Die Hard, Rambo, Batman, etc...

Too expensive for tickets alone never mind food and drink, cinema not close to where I live, most films not of interest.

I went to the cinema all the time when I was a teenager, but now the era has gone.

I sometimes rent DVDs, usually to catch the new films of moderate interest.

The villain was pretty weak, but that's to be expected with an origin story.
It could've seriously done with my action.
I'm sure that nobody here wants to hear about "YOUR action".

The guy was late, "Saturday Night Fever" = maybe he had a fever that had lasted from the previous Saturday night.
I dont get the bit about passing the course though.

He was just a John Travolta fan

It's a hard course. 80% of the students fail.

Saturday Night Fever starts with Travolta being late for work at the paint shop. :)

I'd say 2008 has been a very good year in volume of films I liked, just not enough I managed to catch were of the high level I like to enjoy ;)

I'll definitely be buying all of these though (in time):

Burn After Reading
Dark Knight
Harold & Kumar Escape from Guantanamo Bay
The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor
Step Brothers
Three Kingdoms: Resurrection of the Dragon
Transporter 3
WALL·E
Taken
Champions
Ip Man
Legendary Assassin
Wushu

Already have Fatal Move ;)

I can understand people pirating photo/design software. It costs a fortune.

Probably cause it's meant as a 'tool' for businesses and freelancers etc to make a profit/their living. For students and people who just use it as a 'hobby/toy', it's obviously way too expensive.

I heard Burn After Reading is good and Three Kingdoms sounds like the kind of HK epic I'd enjoy :)

Corel Paint Shop Pro and Adobe Photoshop Elements (my favourite) are also decent and cost much less.

Paint.Net is also free and very good. Most want Adobe Photoshop even if they don't need it though.

Well... you need it when you're doing a graphic design education.

Definitely. I meant Average Joe by most. If you're learning it professionally you must learn Photoshop.

Like Windows, it always has been and always will be the industry standard. You cannot fault Adobe in the market they're in. Corel's offering aren't in the same league.

Speed Racer was so god awful, that it was painful. Even though I won tickets to see this film, I felt ripped off.

An extremely poorly edited film for pre-adolescent children. Way too many over-long talky exposition-filled scenes that would bore the target audience. It fails as a family film because most adult audiences would cringe at crap like the immature slapstick involving the chimp and the horrible child actor and tortuously bad Home Alone-esque martial arts sequences. Aside from Christina Ricci, the performances were horrible - totally Star Wars prequel calibre.

THe action sequences involving the cars should've been exciting, but in was the complete opposite - they were utterly mind-numblingly boring. I literally almost fell asleep during the finale. I had a similar experience watching that fanfic-esque ejaculatory abortion of a film, FF7: Advent Children.

The only thing that I did like was over-the-top 1960's psychedelic art direction, particularly the production design and wardrobe.
