What does everyone do as a job around here?

Post by IronMonkey »

Hi everyone.

Just been made redundant last week, and have no idea what sort of job to pursue...

What do you guys do for work? I just want some job titles / ideas thrown around so I can see if anything interests me, as I have absolutely no idea what I want to do. :(

Professional hitman for the chinese mob.

Other than that, I'm pretty much sitting at home, picking my nose and eating it, while watching porn. :P Yes. I AM that sexy. Please ladies ( and Mark), no PM's!

edit: Ow yeah, sorry to hear about your bad news, man. Hope you'll find something good again real soon. Shouldnt be a problem though. Dont worry too much about it. Just enjoy this short time off and treat it as a vacation of sorts, watching some movies and playing some games you were looking forward to watching and playing :)

Oh crap... just realised this is the first serious answer.

I'm a secondary school teacher now. Used to be a research astronomer.

If you qualify for entry to a PGCE you could do one of those for a year, you get paid a bit of money to do it, then become a teacher after that. Decent holidays in this job! Almost makes up for having to put up with the fecking children.

Gigolo.

I work in IT Support, in two areas: supporting bespoke Windows Mobile software for retail (the people who update stock in shops) and am also starting to get into more general Windows support. Which was one of the reasons I took the job. It's currently mostly telephone support.

I'll do my best not to. Cheers for the advice!

It is quite worrying seeing some of the year 11 (4th year for the scots) and sixth form girls though. In regular clothes, if they tarted themselves up they could easily be girls you see out on a fri/sat night. Quite possibly some of the ones I've drooled over too. It has kind of ruined going out, as I now end up thinking about the age of every hot female that I see.

Bah, don't worry about it. As long as they're legal its fine! My girlfriend has just turned 19. She had just turned 17 when I met her, and at the time I was 23. Now I'm almost 25.

Age isn't a huge concern, as long as you're not going to get into trouble with the law!

Age is a concern for me. I'll be 30 in December and couldn't go out with someone less than 25 or maybe 26. They'll be way too immature.

I doubt I'd have been interested in someone 19 when I was 25, again too immature IMO.

It sounds like you're saying fucking under age girls is somehow better of the two evils :|

TBH... I dont think maturity comes with age. It's a personality thing. You will still always have a whole lot of immature 30+ year olds, and you can also have mature people under 20.

Obviously, I would never want a 17 year old party-slut who's superficial and ignorant as hell, but I'm sure there are also mature girls/women of that age.

I half agree. Obviously you can have immature 30 year olds and mature 20 year olds but that doesn't get around the fact "general" maturity comes with age.

You just cannot learn as much in 20 years as you can 30, for instance.

I think thats a very naive and ageist view brad... Maturity and wisdom comes with life experience, to some extent and one can have as much life experience in 20 years if not more as they can in 30 years. There are stupid 30 year olds justas there are smart 20 year olds. Age has too much stigma, im 21 and my partner is 28 people think hes too old for me, but in reality im as mature as him we enjoy the same things, and engage in many intellectual and mature debates about things that people my age probably dont even know a thing about. I've never been out clubbing, never got drunk or done stupid things, many people mistake me for being far older than i am, and i spent most of my life reading and studying and just learning about things. But it must also be somewhat balanced, too mature and you can be boring, but i can also act immaturely, have fun, play videogames, watch funny movies and have a laugh. Self respect and principles and morals are an important part of maturity too...are you saying that most people under 25 dont have these? and that most people over 25 do?

You say you cannot learn as much as a 30 year old, i'd like to know what you mean by that? i know many many people who are 25/30+ and thick as two short planks. and i also know quite a number of younger people, including myself, who can speak about a variety of diverse subjects in an eloquent, educated and informed way. You put too much store by age, age is just a number, its about way of life, intelligece, personality and experience.

Also, what IS maturity!?

Is it drinking, going out, enjoying a social responsible life? Are playing videogames watching martial arts movies IMMATURE? Is being a parent 'mature', or does are you only mature if you're a responsible parent, or a bossy parent, or a 'relaxed' parent!?

We all know what immature, irresponsible behaviour is, and it seems more common with younger people instead of with older people. Or maybe it's just more apparent!?

Truth is, I'm 'immature' in some areas, while always having been very 'mature' in other areas.

TBH, for me, 'mature' means having principles and selfrespect, and living up to that, not letting others determine how you should live your life, or how you should behave.
So I'm immature in some things, but I hardly care about how others feel about that, cause it's my life, my choices, and I enjoy my decisions, and also bear the consequences of them. Which in itself is 'mature'.

Also, maybe 'immaturity' isnt a 'bad' thing. It depends on how that person is 'immature'. Does the girl you wanna date just enjoy watching cartoons and play boardgames all night, and sitting next to you in her PJ's watching scary movies on a saturday night? Is that a BAD immaturity? Ofcourse not. That's 'cute'.

Dont get me wrong, I HATE immature spoiled superficial bitches as much as the next guy. But I'm not fond of spoiled bitter superficial bitches that PRETEND to be OH SO 'mature', with their 3000 pound Burberry purses, their 'sex and the city' lifestyle, and sipping wine at night while talking about how bad all men are.

Give me a secure 'immature' girl over an 'insecure' mature chick every day of the week!

Yeah, but would they go out with you?? :D

Age isn't a concern for me as long as they're legal. I've met teenage girls who are more mature than girls in their 20s. It's about attitude not numbers.
They'll way too mature.
I think Brad should back in skoole.
I doubt I'd have been interested in someone 19 when I was 25, again too immature IMO.
Yes - but one day you'll mature enough to go out with a 19 year old. Fingers crossed.

Well it's better than underage boys if that's what you mean. But I'd personally try not to do either. Wouldn't want the coppers banging on my door at 6am to drag me off to the nonce wing.

I disagree.

Obviously I'm generalising but then so is everyone else to say "you can have mature 20 year olds and immature 30 year olds" and "are you saying that most people under 25 dont have these? and that most people over 25 do?". All generalisations.

The simple fact is "overall" 30 year olds are more mature than 20 year olds, partly because they're older but partly because they've been there and got drunk (for instance), and moved on.

p.s - It's good to have you back on Bullets Shen.
