I know the first Cannes reviews weren't brilliant, but I still think this could be a very good film.
What do you guys think ?
I used to be "the man who loves the movies you hate".
Now I'm just "that weird french guy with a cat avatar who comes to BnB once a year for no reason and then disappears again".

Personally I liked it a lot but yeah, I can see why most people don't.

Instead of directing three separate episodes Tsui Hark, Ringo Lam and Johnnie To deliver a single storyline, with each director helming one third of the movie. The outcome is an undeniable mess, but a very enjoyable one. The movie begins as a crime thriller but soon gets weirder and weirder. By the time To takes over the movie has turned into a sort of violent mystery farce told with a straigh face. Lam Suet’s appearance near the end is a small classic that will be equally hated and loved. Just like the whole movie.

I've a feeling that like 95% of HK films in the past five years, this one will be suck. HK cinema Zzzzzz.

Still - prepared to be proven wrong though.

Thanks Mark. I don't think Manga Entertainment have released anything of note yet. Hopefully this will be.

Question: What are people's top 3 Johnnie To movies? I've seen barely any.

1. Throwdown
2. The Mission
3. Election 2

4. PTU
5. Election
6. Exiled
7. Fulltime Killer
8. Executioners
9. Breaking News
10. Triangle
11. The Heroic Trio
12. All About Ah-Long
13. The Big Heat
14. Running on Karma

Only good films. The order, however, is not entirely reliable as some of the films I saw quite a long time ago.

Mad Detective and Sparrow seem very promising.

OK. I've watched TRIANGLE and..... it was a huge disappointment.

I was gonna give it ** but Johnnie To's segment decided to play farce so it's ultimately a *.5 for me.

Yeah, the Johnnie To segment was ridiculous.
I thought the rest was quite good, but nothing special.

Thanks Hung. It looks like an easy winner for the Masters of Cinema DVD or BD. At least with HK DVDs you can say they're cheap, you cannot even say that with HK BDs.

hey,

you got me so totally.

"...playtime in Hong Kong cinema is not a bad thing."

"...Triangle is a mess that we rather approve of."
