Casino Royale: 3 Disc SE DVD / 2 Disc SE BD - 21/10/08

Post by bradavon »

I'll post this here, as as many members are probably interested in the BD to DVD release.

Here (including cover art): http://www.dvdactive.com/news/releases/ ... yale8.html
Here (including AV spec): http://www.highdefdigest.com/news/show/1950

I wonder why they're bothering to include a new TrueHD track when it will have PCM too. I bet the BD doesn't get the Digi-pack packaging :(. Still the extras look excellent.

I'll wait to see if the AV is improved before deciding if I wish to upgrade. I'm basically happy with the existing BD but I am a sucker for multi-disc releases.

It's only the other day been announced. There will be no single disc SE BD.

I think he meant in addition to the one-disc BD already available.

I hope they use the Unrated version this time.

Ow yes ow yes ow yes ow yes ow yesssssssssss
(No I did NOT just cream my pants, although it was a close one, I admit)

They are using the COOL picture for the cover-art! Awesome. The picture I hoped they would be using for the first DVD-release, but didnt.

Definately buying the Blu-Ray :) Great great movie.

The chances of that happening are less likely than any of us porking Angelina Jolie :D.

Lossless/uncompressed tracks compatible with every player and great number of receivers on the market.

Also the space is available, so why not?

Why not include it true but why bother? Every TrueHD compatible player/amp on the market can play PCM anyway. TrueHD only ends up as PCM too.

It just seems an odd expense when every TrueHD user will also be able to play the PCM and the quality won't be better.

The BD extras have increased now:
Though initial specs revealed by the studio for the set were already impressive, Sony has announced additional material exclusive to the Blu-ray release. Newly-added to the spec list is a Bonus View picture-in-picture visual commentary with director Martin Campbell and producer Michael G. Wilson, and the "Know Your Double-O" the Ultimate James Bond Trivia Quiz (BD-Java-enhanced).

Read the spec, it does. The BD has an additional PIP commentary, which is likely to contain the same audio.
