If the watermark is in the english subtitle track, it's more effective than region coding.
It means that the americans (who are also in region A) can't watch the film.

Great, thanks. How does it compare to the DVD? I see it's only a BD25, maybe it doesn't need a BD50.

I presume extras have no English subs?

the blu-ray looks stunning but has no grain,i suspect it has some DNR.this a film made for blu-ray,bright and colourful.there's only a making of on the disc having checked for subs on that.anyone wanting extras should go for the DD.

Tom I may be mistaken but none of the Swing Girls/Waterboys comments on Amazon JP are by anoyne with the discs, they're all about the film or plain speculation.
I might pre order both as the pricing is good.

well this image looks so smooth i'm suspecting a bit of DNR there. it's not a grainy film (there is a dvd comparison here somewhere). knife fight in the alley at the end could well be the best looking sequence i've ever seen on blu-ray

Mine is pretty shitty, but I believe that this gentleman is complaining about the quality of his Blu-Ray disc.

Does he have an early copy, or is he just judging by the specs?
I don't know.
But he definitely mentions "Single layer, AVC encode, PCM 5.1, uneven PQ, grain, missing extras and lots of other problems".

EDIT:
Somebody (called Tom

) has made a comment on his review.
I'm not sure I get it, but he seems to be suggesting that it's only an early version and that the final one will have 2 layers.
But he's saying something about the DVD as well, so I don't really know.

It's getting better, I'll be starting a degree in it next month so I've been swotting up.
But that one is just speculating based on the specs suggesting that single layer isn't enough and complaining that it won't have every extra from the premium DVD's.

Just some rabid crazed Japanese people. They don't have it but I will once it's out as I placed my order.

Happy Together a couple of weeks back, Fallen Angels this w/e. I've sold my WKW box set and re-bought the HA R1 SE. I hope a bloody BD doesn't now come.

Happy Together is very good, not as good as Chungking Express but still very good. It's great to see a homosexual relationship portrayed as realistic for once. WKWs experimentations with the camera were very good too.

An easy 7 out of 10, not "quite" 8 out of 10. It's a high scale with WKW though.

I only watched it before Fallen Angels as it meant I could sell my WKW box set, whereas Fallen Angels I have the Korean Remastered set with Chungking Express.

Me too, easily but neither are keepers. The rest of WKW's work is though. I re-watched DOBW before I saw Happy Together.
