I think it may have used an export print, but attached the Cantonese track and corrected theatrical subtitles.

Can't confirm.

According to one not very helpful review at Kung Fu Cinema, the audio for this (both mono and 5.1) suffer from new foley. Anyone care to comment. I can just about live with new background sounds but I'm not buying a Fortune Star style disaster. An actual sample would be appreciated

I just watched it just then - I tried both the 5.1 and the "dual mono" track, and both have some pretty nasty added effects. Probalby not as bad as the Universe release, but still there... Having said that though, it's only when things like tables or pots etc are broken, so it's not _too_ bad.

Great movie though, shame they don't make em like that any more. :)

Quite funny to see how blatantly obvious the wires are though at times - I'm sure I didn't notice them that much on previous viewings (perhaps the video was too blurry on the Universe release to notice much).

Depends on where the added foley came from? Neither Media Asia nor Fortune Star have ever held the rights of FOL. It was Mei Ah before Disney. And I believe Mei Ah's VCD was original mono therefore only Disney could added anything to the soundtracks. Tai-Chi Master had already been remixed by Universe before Disney got their hands on it.

Someone mentioned the title card earlier - the entire opening credits sequence has everything in english and even features "Michelle Khan" (Michelle Yeoh), looks like it was taken from an early english print...

According to Gil, the print stutters on shot changes.

Yeah its probably a GH print from the mid 90's licensed to Disney when Supercop opened in the States. She was billed as Michelle Khan in that film if my memory is correct.

And Gil isn't the most reliable critic when it comes to HKL and DD. I'll judge for myself when I see the DVD-R a friend is making for me

Yes, she was Michelle Yeoh, atleast on the Fortune Star DVD I have. She's Michelle Khan on Dimension's version.
