Nocturnal people.
I've been suffering from 'chronic fatigue syndrome' for a fair few years now, but I've finally realised what is actually going on. My circadian rhythm (bodyclock) is out of synch with most other people. No matter how much I try and sleep nights and live through the day, I am absolutely knackered all day. I have no problem sleeping at night, but it's sleep which doesn't do anything for me.
This is because my bodyclock wants me to sleep in the day and be awake all night. I've just been researching and it turns out it's a known thing, and there are many people like this. It's simply natural that a certain number of people are meant to be awake at night, and there's no known way to change it. I feel relieved now, because I didn't know if I was ill, or always had to go on feeling like shit, but now I know this and I can try and make the most of night times instead of going to bed and having pointless sleep.
I just thought I'd bring this topic to attention, anyone else here aware of this? Know anyone like this?

I don't know if it's Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, but I have the same problem.
You'll soon find that people like us are more efficient at night as well. Between midnight and 4am: that's when I always do my best work.
I sleep in the morning and wake up at around 1 or 2pm.
Being able to work at home helps a lot, that's for sure.

I used to be "the man who loves the movies you hate".
Now I'm just "that weird french guy with a cat avatar who comes to BnB once a year for no reason and then disappears again".

I'm the same. Always more tired during the day than at night, which is when I suddenly become more alert. I sleep-in mornings whenever I get the chance - even into the afternoons - often take cat naps PM and then be ready to sit up all night watching movies. I could sleep for 12 hrs straight and then wake up as tired as if I'd never slept for a second. My body clock is buggered.

Hmm I'm afraid I don't quite buy it. I was very much a night person for years was was as you've all described; but having been at school since last September, and thus keeping more sensible hours, things are quite different now and I feel far better for it. Took a while to change though.
Nights just aren't good for you.

that sounds like a normal, regular sleep pattern Grim
midnight is not particularly a late time to retire. my body clock is also all over the place,a result of working shifts for over 20 years.i do a week of nights every five weeks, sometimes more.i'm currently on my 11th night in a row and will be doing 14 before i'm off.

Re: Nocturnal people.
2 years later since my original post and now I'd say it's because my TSH is higher at night (due to my recently diagnosed Hashimoto's).
