Romero I know what you mean, but I didnt say YOU MUST SEE COME DRINK WITH ME, but the fact is it is considered an important film in Hong Kong history, influencing Drunken Master, Crouching Tiger etc. No getting away from that. At the time it was made, it was considered one of the best HK movies ever made.
One of your favourite films - Seven Samurai, was also very influential on world cinema.
Ivan I've never seen Red Lotus, interesting.

Ahh but Grim I dont seek out any films that are classed as Classics etc.. many are overpraised beyond words and mainly disapoint. Most films I discover, just as a blind watch or buy and then I find out they were classics :D does not happen much anymore as I have seen soooo many films, but 14 years ago I watched all films on TV etc.. so discovered tonnes.

Now I buy them, so discovering gems is harder as the box ussually says CLASSIC! etc. :D

Still I will watch any Shaw Brothers film, regardless of what others say. But I have been stung a few times with some abysmal films (Ussually the so called classics) haha :D

I have not bought one for ages :( the Dynasty Releases I own all of them so far in their Hong Kong form I think (I have too many HK discs to tell sometimes).

The Dynasty discs do sound better quality and that really does make me want to upgrade a few classy best Shaws.

Thanks Grim and Ivan.

As if you cannot still buy them
romerojpg wrote:Who gives a fuck? I couldnt care less how self important a film is. I watch a film, not a self important genre classic pushed on sheep who think a classic must be seen.
Well whoopy doo for you. Give Romero an award .

You talk so much bullshit at times. You lambaste others for taking others points of view on board, then go and do exactly the same yourself.

Celestial titles: Original Mono/Stereo - English 5.1
All the Shaws are original mono (no 5.1) with exception to OAS English being a 5.1 downgrade.
Do DD only source their material from Fortune Star or Celestial?
Anything not supplied by Celestial/FS must have their approval.
No, the OAS is proper mono. the sound effects seem to be there as substitutions for ommissions on whatever source was used. This also happened with the English dub on the Siren dvd of Heroic Ones. Of course, since these are just sound effects, the much more sensible solution would have been to lift those sounds from the Mandarin track but then common sense is a rarity at Celestial

The Fortune Star rights to the Golden Princess catalogue don't extend to Europe. That's why HKL had to use the Media Asia prints for City on Fire.

Ah yes. Isn't Cinema City the same?

That would explain why HKL made that big announcement ages ago.

Golden Princess bought over Cinema City in the late 80s.

Why on earth are you using Amazon for accurate specs? Seriously Grim do NOT use Amazon or Play to check disc specs.

Lee posted DVD Beaver reviews a few days ago: https://www.bulletsnbabesdvd.com/forums/ ... 681#113681

Very funny Eva :D
Edit: Thanks Shing :D
Definite upgrade then, the Beaver review suggests the commentary is new.

Yi-long has waited so long for this and when it's finally announced he's not here :D.

Thanks. It doesn't interest me though. I'm looking forward to Bodyguard from Beijing more.

Nah, it'll be put back again I'm sure with the usual 'date but no details' delay :).

They've attached dates that eventually exceeded what it was supposed to be and disappeared, I believe.

It's likely that this will be the date this time, but I still wouldn't hold my breath until artwork comes along :).

Good point regarding the cover art. Tai Chi Master is out at the end of July.

Personally I wish Weinstein had taken Police Story 3 with him too but I know I'm alone here.

With a possible exception to 'AOG 2', I don't think they can take stuff released theatrically.

Tai Chi Master and Fist of Legend... finally, great to see... now all they need to get hold of is Fong Sai Yuk!

Good point, understood.

Now that is one I'd like to see and FSY2. They're treated worse than Tai Chi Master and Fist of Legend, at least they have decent French DVDs.
