gasteropod wrote:Is it legal in this country yet? I don't really keep track of stuff like this to be honest.
Yes but it's called Civil Partnership. I'm not sure why. Tony Blair brought it in a few years ago. It caused controversy when he became a Catholic, as Catholic's are supposed to be Homophobic.
romerojpg wrote:If they want to get married let them, just dont let them adopt children, thats just silly, if they cannot have kids the normal way, its their fault grow a pussy.
By that taken, are you saying straight sex couples should be banned from adopting too? Of course you aren't because they somehow are more capable of bring up children.

Fair enough on the rest of your post though.
tom2681 wrote:A child needs a mother AND a father.
If they've got two fathers (or two mothers), it's the same as if they were raised by a single parent. The chances that they'll be normal when they grow up are slim.
I agree in an ideal world a kid needs both a female and male role model (they don't have to be their blood parents) but in reality that often just isn't the case.

What a kid needs more is love and being looked after all. That can work well with one parent as well as too. So in short you're talking small minded bollocks. The sort of bollocks I'd expect Romero to be spouting, not you.
tom2681 wrote:In theory, yes. Whether you grow up in an orphanage or with a single parent, you'll probably be dysfunctional either way.
What utter bollocks. How can having no parent be good for any kid?

Dysfunctional? What utter ignorance.
romerojpg wrote:When your so called gay parents are railing each other in the ass, and bending over and fisting each other and you walk in, guess that will not effect you at all then
There was no need to insult Grim's parents Romero!
romerojpg wrote:If everyone was gay, the world would end, so obviously its not natural or normal for any kids.
Well that's bollocks too. The likelihood of everyone one day being gay just isn't going to happen. The percentage of gay people in any country is so small compared with straight people it's a non-point.
tom2681 wrote:Love is important, sure. But so is education.
There are things that only a man can teach his child.
There are things that only a woman can teach her child.
Of course but that doesn't mean a kid who lacks one will in anyway be dysfunctional, any more so than a kid who grew up in a family with a male/female parent. There are lots of fucked up people who grew up in an "so called" normal family.

Love, education and being brought up properly are natural, everything is just small minded bollocks. As if two people of the same sex cannot give a kid what they need.
saltysam wrote:When the two gays have a bitchy fit and split up,who gets custody of the poor fucking kid unlucky enough to have been adopted by them :?
Why would a gay couple split up any sooner than a straight one? There are gay couples (some now married) who've been together for far longer than straight couples.
romerojpg wrote:Its still illegal in many palces to do the gay thing, you just keep it up.
It's legal in some countries to flog the woman for being raped. I guess we should make that law here too.
Shingster wrote:Tom's comments alone on single parent families deserve a special award for stupidity! But the homophobia from romero and salty are like the ignorant cherry on top! :D

The parents thing was not aimed at Grim specifically Brad, it was parents in general and kids etc.. Your in the third sense.

I know a few gay people fairly well, thing is nothing spoken on this thread would offend them at all, the way they talk would put anyone on this thread to shame. Saying that thats just some gay people, others would I am sure.

But shit people are offended every day, no matter what you say or how you word it.

i know and work with gay people.i certainly am not homophobic.2 gay blokes i used to work with actually went abroad to have some sort of ceremony. Both have since been sacked for drinking on duty and both have been bound over to keep the peace after fighting at home.they now have a 3rd gay,a polish guy living with them.at one point they wanted a kid ! that would've turned out well. tbh i'm not interested in them and what they do. but i don't think it's natural for 2 gays to adopt a child.so shoot me  :)

I find Romero's stance homphobic too Brad, and surely having 1 parent is better than no parent?! I gave the example of a family where the parents (say) arent married - but love each other/their kids, but the other ones are married and fight all the time and split up, hurting the kid. Now which is better?! (!)
Totally agree with Brad, saying a kid wont grow up "normal" (what the heck does that mean anyway) because theyre from a family with 2 dads or whatever is bollocks IMO. Did you know that a childrens book called "And Tango Makes Three" about a penguin with 2 fathers was banned in some US Schools because "it promoted the idea that homosexuality was acceptable" Thats the kind of right wing attitude I hate.....

Grim what would you actually define as homophobic? because someone doesn't agree that 2 gays adopting a kid is natural they are automatically homophobic  utter bollocks.

Eh? Can't be ignorance, since I'm speaking from experience.

Thank you.
The fact that you of all people are disagreeing with me proves I'm right. :D

To clarify:
I'm not a homophobe. If people want to have a relationship with someone of the same sex, I couldn't care less.
But you can't deny that these people are somewhat abnormal (meaning that they are doing something that is contrary to human nature).

And since they are not completely mentally healthy, I believe they should not be allowed to raise children. That's all.
But hey, let them do it. I'll come back in 20 years, when all those kids will have turned into rapists, mass murderers and psychopaths. I'll be there to say: "told you so, morons."
I used to be "the man who loves the movies you hate".
Now I'm just "that weird french guy with a cat avatar who comes to BnB once a year for no reason and then disappears again".

Salty I didnt say you were homophobic, at least you were civil in voicing your opinion :) Thats just your opinion and you gave a reason. Romero however is extremely coarse.
How do you know the kids will be turned into rapists?! I bet there are straight kids with shitty upbringing and gay kids/kids with gay parents with good upbringing!
Just because theyre gay doesnt mean they cant take care of the kid.

Hetero parents do both of those things too.
Exactly Gasteropod.
Romero, up until 1967, homosexuality was illegal in Britain. Are you saying we should go back to those times?
I didnt mean to imply you were homophobic Salty.

Ummmmmmmm
For a child, love is most important.
Ultimately, yes.

Damn straight. I'm fisting my girlfriend as I type this. 8)
bradavon wrote:I agree in an ideal world a kid needs both a female and male role model (they don't have to be their blood parents) but in reality that often just isn't the case.
That's the ideal isn't it? I think gay parents can make good, loving parents. But let's not pretend it's the "ideal". I think heterosexual, married parents should be given priority in adoption. Even straight unmarried couples could break up. But if the couple are legally married there's an extra layer of protection for the child and it's less likely that one parent will just walk away. A complicated issue to be sure.
Well that's bollocks too. The likelihood of everyone one day being gay just isn't going to happen.
I dunno. Reading this is making me crave stiff cock.

Two gay people, they're human too.

It sounds like you seem to think just because you've had bad experience with gay people in your area, they all must be that way. I don't understand what the relevance of the third persons nationality is.
saltysam wrote:because someone doesn't agree that 2 gays adopting a kid is natural they are automatically homophobic  utter bollocks.
Yes to an extent, but that doesn't mean I think you're homophobic overall. We had a similar debate with LD awhile back :D.
tom2681 wrote:Eh? Can't be ignorance, since I'm speaking from experience.
That doesn't mean it's a universal fact.
tom2681 wrote:But you can't deny that these people are somewhat abnormal (meaning that they are doing something that is contrary to human nature).
Human nature involves blowing each other up in pointless wars and strapping each bombs to our chests. You cannot compare "being normal" to "Human Nature".

But yes I would disagree whole heartily what gay people do is abnormal. It is as normal as being heterosexual. People should be allowed to make whatever decision they wish (as long as it's legal), without others trying to stop them.

I wouldn't care less if my kids were gay, as long as they were happy.
tom2681 wrote:And since they are not completely mentally healthy, I believe they should not be allowed to raise children.
Please! And you say you're not homophobic. People have been gay for as long as people have been straight. Who are you to judge one is normal and one isn't?
tom2681 wrote:But hey, let them do it. I'll come back in 20 years, when all those kids will have turned into rapists, mass murderers and psychopaths. I'll be there to say: "told you so, morons."
I hope you're now joking!

Agreed.

Yes that is the ideal but in reality there are far more kids who need loving homes than their are suitable adopting families. It probably isn't necessary as such to give heterosexual married couples priority.

I imagine the adoptions agencies do take marriage into account. If the strict adoption rules were used more to parents wanting their own kids things would be a lot better.

What bad experience?i never had a bad experience with them,i don't give a fuck what they do,i gave an example of a couple i know and how things went pearshaped and it would have been even worse if their idea of adopting a child had happened.

I take what people say seriously in this subforum and reply accordingly but don't take it seriously to the extent I linger on it. It's the Internet.

I'll bat for whichever side has me, sadly neither side does :D. I'm always left hanging around in the cold, by the edge of the pitch. We're talking about sport right?

Brokeback Mountain is good. At least I'm not a closest Top Gun bum boy .
