Your most anticipated future theatrical films?

Post by EvaUnit02 »

What future theatrical films are you most looking forward to?

Mine:-
Batman Begins - Looks to be the best live action Batman film adaptation to date.
Sympathy for Lady Vengeance - Based on how excellent Park's past films are.
The Passion of the Clerks - Based on how great the original is.
Zatoichi 2 - Based on how awesome the original is.
Ong-Bak - When it finally gets a general theatrical run in NZ.

The "looks promising but undecided" pile:-
Sin City - Visual style looks fantastic and past Robert Rodriguez films have been alot of fun (El Mariachi trilogy, From Dusk Till Dawn).
War of the Worlds - Teaser trailer reminds me of Day After Tomorrow (or any other Ronald Emmerich bid-budget dreck) - bleh. But Spielberg has done solid scifi films in the past, lets hope this one is as well.

Maybe:
The War of The Worlds - bloody hell its ages since I read the original book of TWoTW :D

* I'm looking forward to "Kingdom of Heaven" and "Unleashed". I really hope they're decent. I'm also looking forwars to Star War 3 and Ring 2.

Speaking of "Unleashed" it seems in France they're retaining the original title. Good on them!

* I also see "Doom" is coming. This will either be excellent or utter rubbish!

* The New World also looks very good (fascinating subject and Terrence Malick at the helm):

I'm looking forward to Star Wars 3 and Unleashed as well. 8) SW3 is meant to be very dark and will probably a 12A (at least) here. Lucas is aiming for a US PG-13 rating at least.

As for Doom, I've heard LOADS of bad press about that, one core element of the first game was that it was set on Mars (I think?) but the film isn't. Lots of other important plot points were removed.

I downloaded and watched the trailers for Unleashed and Star Wars Ep3. Unleashed looks good, glad to see a west-produced Jet Li movie without bullet time or lame arse rapper/R&B singer co-stars. Looks film will some depth to the story and characters, and having the talents of Morgan Freeman and Bob Hoskins can only help it.

Star Wars Ep3 looks promising. No doubt it will have excellent action sequences, Lucas maybe be a poor storyteller, but he sure can make a spectacular action scene. I looking forward to seeing Palpatine and Anakin kicking lightside arse... and Natalie Portman in low-cut outfits :D. I hope Mace Windu dies an agonising death.

From my understanding, they've removed all the hell elements and now they're just generic "aliens from another dimension". I had low expectations anyway since the director is responsible for the reportedly terrible Romeo Must Die, Cradle 2 the Grave and Exit Wounds; but they dropped even further when I heard the above news.

I'm guessing they removed them to appease the American christian conservatives, if this is so then what about fucking Constantine? God damn Hollywood producers for making movies these days to "reach a widest audience" possible.

What the hell (pun intended :D) is the point of the movie then? They've alienated the the automatic gamer audience this film would've had. I guess it will appeal to the mainstream action fan who want to see The Rock "kick alien ass". You'd think they'd be put off by how poorly Chronicles of Riddick did.

The Wonka film will actually be called "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" (fair enough thats what the book was called) :P I read that in 1971, the title of the film was changed to Willy Wonka because of Vietnam or something? Wasn't Charlie a nickname for the Viet Cong used by the US?

Also according to the UCI website, Star Wars Episode III is PG-rated (not 12a). Strange because George Lucas was pushing for a US PG-13 rating.
The 12a cert is a joke though ;)

Hey,

Will probably see Batman Begins soon, and Kung Fu Hustle if it plays locally :)
Mr. and Mrs. Smith looks good too, some reviews I've read call it a great fun popcorn film (no bad thing) :D ;)

Viet Cong = V. C. = Victor Charlie in the phonetic alphabet.

I didn't know that.

The game is an uber classic though so for that alone it's worth mentioning.

It's a pity some of the sheer gameplay from Doom and Doom 2 has been lost in Doom 3.

*Backs away from Romero slowly*
RE, Mortal Kombat, Soldier and ESPECIALLY Event Horizon were all FUCKING AWFUL films IMO (haven't seen AVP yet).

I do love Buffy, Angel and at least the first two seasons of Alias (S3 hasn't shown here yet, plus I've heard it went downhill after Abrams cut his creative reins of the show to work on Lost.)

I think Event Horizon is great and thought Mortal Kombat was decent but really only comparing it to Street Fighter which is saying very, very little.
