That's interesting... the HK DVDs are faaaaaaaaaaar from perfect so it'll be worth keeping an eye on what FOX does with these. That said, Fox have in the past put out old dubbed prints on DVD. So let's hope they are taken from the new HD remasters and have original language tracks. I wouldn't count on it...

But surely Mark they are still by faaaaaaaaaaar the best! (bar ETD of course).

This will be interesting as it won't contain ETD (a good thing in this case). TBH for me I only want FOF from the HK box set and as HKL are re-releasing this I'll get that instead. It's obvious HKL's DVD will be by far the best (with 90% assurance anyway).

Do Fox hold the rights to GOD? They've already released GOD2 so we already know what that will be like if it's included (I hope not).

Who's your source please?

I would bar the original language bit. Fox have a long running deal with FS it would be uber dumb not to use them.

Only by default.

You're more confident than I.
Do Fox hold the rights to GOD?
Yes. They always have done. Even before the Fortune Star deal.
I would bar the original language bit. Fox have a long running deal with FS it would be uber dumb not to use them.
Assuming they know what the original language is. What if they use Cantonese Mono? That's no fucking good is it?

If they use Mono then it has to be. We know the extras at least will be better and we also know they'll be using the FS Remastered print.

I know, hence why I said:

"I would bar the original language bit."

You said:

" So let's hope they are taken from the new HD remasters "

So I said:

" Fox have a long running deal with FS it would be uber dumb not to use them."

It has to be the correct language of course. I mean, HKL haven't gotten it right so far have they? And let's not even talk about the possibility of downmixes!?! :(
" Fox have a long running deal with FS it would be uber dumb not to use them."
It would. But I expect dumb from these companies. From what I've heard the Fox editions WILL be using the new HD prints so that's a good start.

Sorry I meant correct language mono soundtrack.

Have you heard what films will be in the box set? I'm guessing all BL films except for ETD (+ GOD2).

It's to early for the spec.

I suspect they'll use a new one. I don't believe the current Fox DVDs have HKL
English dubs.

Personally I'm hoping for Cantonese DD5.1, Cantonese Mono and Mandarin Mono. With a lovely uncropped 2.35:1 anamorphic picture, uncut/unaltered and lots of extras + English subs NOT English dubtitles.

I suspect we'll get:

Cantonese DTS, Cantonese DD5.1, English DTS, English DD5.1 and "maybe" Cantonese Mono. With a lovely uncropped 2.35:1 anamorphic picture, uncut/unaltered with either minimal or no extras + English dubtitles.

From IGN.com:

Bruce Lee Lives Again on DVD
Boxed set offers five classic kung fu films.
by Todd Gilchrist

July 26, 2005 - On October 18, 2005, Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment will release Bruce Lee: The Ultimate Collection on DVD. The five-disc set will include Lee's classic movies, retitled to reflect the original release information of each film: The Big Boss (a/k/a Fists of Fury, Fist of Fury (a/k/a The Chinese Connection), Way of the Dragon (a/k/a Return of the Dragon), The Game of Death, and The Game of Death II.

Game of Death II was released earlier this year in the same format as the forthcoming boxed set: Remastered picture and sound are the disc's chief features, but trailers are included as well. Additional bonus materials will appear on the boxed set, which will be offered for the MSRP of $49.98, but details were not provided as of press time.

Why are you apologising? You didn't type it.

It says they'll finally be getting the proper titles in the US. Something I never thought I'd see and is great news IMO.

Huh?

I agree with you Gasteropod. :) It is nice artwork though. These could easily be ports of the IVL's mind.

I always like IVL artwork - well all the ones I've seen anyway (I'm thinking Project A series, Once Upon a Time in China trilogy, Police Story trilogy, Bruce Lee collection) :)

This won't be the final art work.

Some guy from HK has posted over at DVD Answers to say some of the Chinese says "7 DVDs Collector's Edition".

Considering ETD isn't included it won't be more than 6 DVDs.

Any news on separate releases?

Did anyone buy this?

Is it a port of the HK DVD box set?

Haven't bought it, but the Fox set now includes Mandarin Mono for purists, and English dub remixes - for those who care.
