Me too. You get the general idea of the differences and that's what matters. Your comparisons are certainly better than some of the shit that they post on DVDbeaver.

@Salty:
Ignore Chenlung. He's always complaining about stuff like this.
He even asked me to redo a comparison once because my caps were off by one or two frames.
I used to be "the man who loves the movies you hate".
Now I'm just "that weird french guy with a cat avatar who comes to BnB once a year for no reason and then disappears again".

Thanks guys i appreciate the support :) i know my caps aren't the best but i think i've gotten a little better, i work fulltime and really haven't time to spend getting them 100% accurate,i do them when i have a spare half hour :)

They're fine for me too.

What method do you use? Lourdes's method is dead simple and makes sure you've got the right frames.

To me a capture comparison is all about giving us a good idea which DVD looks better, even a few frames off can tell you that. They don't need to be precise, that's taking them way to seriously.

Obviously precise is better but it's no big deal if they're not.

Nope, Salty does post a lot of good comparisons and that, but I was just saying because by being off a few frames, it makes it harder to determine what is cropped and that, and yes, DVD Beaver is inaccurate at times.

As I've said before, please keep posting them :).

Oh for crying out loud, most if not all of those caps are from fixed positions, and its very obvious to see the framing differences

Lets not be so pendantic

Cause someone made a good effort and it was dismissed as "rough'. I was hoping not to come across as rude, specially to good friends. Please don't take offence!

If my Amazon Marketplace order doesn't go well, I might take you up on your offer :).

OK fair enough :). I think we were all rude lol. Sorry Salty, last night wasn't a good one to catch me on, was just pretty miffed that after months of waiting and promises to get it better than ever, it's just not up there :(. Apologises mate.
Please don't take offence!
Oh, but I have ;)! For that, we must square off at the back of some dodgy inn run by overwhelming staff.

I no longer have the UK or Aussie discs but i can tell you, besides being non-anamorhpic, the UK uses the same trasnfer as the Media Blasters (and interlaced), whilst the Aussie was the IVL (yet progressive)

Also, the UK and Media Blasters run shorter than the IVL because of the frame cutting. BUT the benefit in framing makes up for that

Linn said that getting the '3 Styles' onto the DVD from 35mm intact with Mandarin etc would take up much of their budget.

I'm curious about 'The Master'. Already, I can think of the English credit sequence floating around on bootleg that's 2:35:1>4:3 that can be included I'm sure. Commentary-wise, maybe Mike Leeder might do it or a Shaw orientated person. I'd be happy to upgrade from my IVL. Maybe Chen did an interview with them, Wang Lung Wei is still around and I'm sure Yuen Tak could be contacted somewhere. Maybe grab hold of Candy Wen? Could be going a little too far now!

Yeah, telecining film to video is VERY expensive. Ever wondered why old trailers and so on are often from VHS?

Thanks Salty.

Curiously, that '3 Styles' is different to the one that features on the IVL DVD of 'Executioners From Shaolin'. Is it the original English dub and Mandarin soundtracks that accompany it, or is it Celestial's?

I also wonder if the UK VHS had the credits in full anamorphic presentation (all squished).

From my experience, the UK videos cropped (Chinese Boxer), stretched (36th Chamber) and left in 2.25:1 (Boxer From Shantung

So I expect the one on the DVD is from the UK tape

My 'Heroes Of The East' UK VHS (under the weird export title 'Shaolin Challenges Ninja') is 2:35:1 squished.

The demonstration is likely from a Dutch tape or maybe German.
