Die Hard 2 US BD - disc replacement programme

Apparently the DTS-HD MA track is buggered on the Region A and shows up as a HR track, or doesn't work at all, when bit-streamed.

Another interesting tidbit:-

I'm still not sure Fox or its representatives realize that all copies of Die Hard 2 sold so far in the U.S. have a corrupted DTS-HD MA track. What has been confirmed is that the region free Australian BD of Die Hard 2 has a fully functioning DTS-HD MA soundtrack.

Unfortunately there doesn't appear to be an Aussie series boxset.

That's annoying, thanks Eva. I only consider Die Hard 1 a keeper but Die Hard 2 is my second favourite and the only other one I would potentially pick up.

You can blame Die Hard 3:

1. USA: Fox like the rest
2. UK: Disney
3. Australia: Village Roadshow

Die Hard 2 is by far the worst of the series. By-the-numbers carbon copy sequel, with inferior scripting, direction and action/fun factor. ZZZZZZZZZZZZ

I'd agree except Die Hard 3 is boring (which is odd given how it changes the formula and has a decent director) and Die Hard 4 while good fun is nothing like a Die Hard film at all.

I'd don't consider Die Hard 2 a keeper and won't be buying it though.

Decent director?? I'd say Die Hard was a fluke.

Hunt for Red October was good too.

McTiernan's career took a nose dive but let's not rewrite history to pretend he wasn't at one point one of the best action directors in the US.

I think WAV is great fun, and hell, I really enjoyed DH2.

The original is untouchable, but all three sequels entertained me big time and that's all I ask for...

I never said he was the best action directors in the US, maybe someone else did. I did get him mixed up with John Frankenheimer though.

Die Hard, Predator and The Thomas Crown Affair are all decent, and well directed.
